I needed to remove my cab battery to recharge it this week as it is flat (11.5v).

When I opened up the floor cover (Hymer B698) I found this socket and what looks like an earth lead unattached to anything. Any clues as to what it might be, and where the other half of the connector might be? I still have a u/s cruise control. Any chance this might be the cause?

Looks like it should be connected to the nut just to the right.
Couldn't have come off by accident though.
If your sure it's a earth, try connecting.
Caveat - no liability accepted if it goes pop !

The negative battery terminal has three posts. Two have nuts on. One doesn’t, but there’s no nut floating around in the cavity. I’m happy to connect up the earth lead but still curious why the loom has four other wires going to the connector which goes nowhere. There is a small slit in the front of the battery box. I’m wondering if the other end is hanging loose under the cab. If so, I cannot believe both events are a coincidence.

Is that yellow plug for optional heated seats? Not uncommon to find the yellow plug style of connection randomly unconnected on Fiat/Peugeot as I guess they use the same wiring loom regardless of whether all connections are needed. I have at least three connectors under the bonnet going nowhere.

G-RMPS is it a Fiat Ducato base vehicle?
If it is we've got the same unconnected plug and "earth" next to our vehicle battery. Having said that our negative battery terminal has only one spring loaded connector.

As Jev88 said, same harness covers many model options and that socket is for something you don't have. Just leave it where it is if it can't get near the battery terminals.... Or tape up the earth ring if it can.

I always wondered what the yellow plug was for, now I know.

I think its for passenger pretensioner, of course I may be wrong..........do you have passenger air bag?

We have and also got the unconnected socket \ "earth".

Can't be that then. I also have it and had always assumed that that is what it is. Will watch thread with interest.

Thanks for that everyone. Doesn’t fix my cruise control but allows me to replace the battery and leave the “spare” cables unconnected.
