What is your van lacking that would make life much easier?

On a slightly off topic note, does anyone use Kitchen Paper to first clean all dishes, cutlery, pans if washing up in the van ? (Obviously doesn't apply if using the site facilities) Only takes 1 to 2 pieces and makes washing up easier and most importantly keeps your grey tank much much cleaner for longer ! Travelling around Europe for 3 months and has been a huge benefit. Keeps the pipes/traps much cleaner and smelling better......was shown this tip by a Kiwi we met who said they do it a lot in NZ.... When I empty the grey tap there's hardly any smell !!
Wet wipes!

Better than kitchen roll 😉

Yep, I often do. Keeps all the slimy rubbish out of the sink. I also sometimes use paper plates if we are doing a quick lunchtime stop. Saves on washing up and they are recyclable.

fishplug
This made me smile because it was something I went to great lengths to install in my last van build and which sent me down a crazy route on my current one.

The new build is going to not only have two way physical light switches but also all the lights and fans and the heater and the fridge and pretty much anything electrical will be controllable from an app on my phone.

It's taken up hundreds of hours of learning, and really isn't worth it, but I'm stubborn (and am quite enjoying figuring it all out!) so....

Things that would make life easier in the van?

At the moment it's really not much more than a panel van with a handful of bits installed so I'd probably say that the thing I miss most is a seat.

Sure, there's the top of the fridge, but that makes it difficult to sit and eat because I'll have forgotten the cheese and have to get in to the thing I'm sitting on...

There's also the toilet, but there's just something wrong about sitting on the toilet while eating your dinner. :D
Would these help Fil?
We each have one of these Hafelle flexible lamps over our beds. They are really bright and probably the only lighting we really use at bedtime, much better thsn the mini spot light things, pointed up they provide a gentle light, whilst pointed at the page they are great for reading.
They also have two USB sockets so we can read books on our phones and charge them whilst in bed too.

Somewhere to put my gin optic dispenser.

A table that is the same size as ours when fully opened, but collapses down to just big enough for a laptop, a tea cup and doesn't get in the way when moving about.
We were looking at marine folding teak table tops before we just got a (very) small table top, but very pricey.

But then ours is completely removable, being a VW camper.

A device or alarm which would sound when the passenger leans forward, fannying about in her bag, just when it is imperative that I look in the passenger side wing mirror.
It is a mystery to me how she has such precise timing.
Wow, got one of those too 😂😂

I'll start.
Screw in sink taps.
The amount of times I've gone to do the washing up using the last of the hot water from the kettle, and the first plate/knife/fork etc to dislodges the plug. Out drains all the hot, soapy water.

Second thing is a roll out sun awning made out of flexible solar panels.
The sun awning made of solar panels............I think you may be on to something here!
QUICK, get a patent!

An invincible MoHo!
Park anywhere, use the facilities, and it's all FREE!
Only downside is, some twat will pull out on you at a T- junction and wreck the van.......'cos, like always, they didn't see you coming (nothing new there then)!

Then buy 2, one for each side of the van so that, when combined with the roof ones, any THS (or home) could be self sufficient WHEN the sun shone. 🤔

I think we're on a winner here Rodders? 😆

Edit: DAMN! Then I read the post above!
Note to self, always read right through the thread before posting!

I tried that once though and then forgot what I was going to say! 😭

I think Kylie would be easier to fit in and she’d probably not make marks on the upholstery.

A pot washer, I don’t mind cooking but not so keen on washing up afterwards 😉
Don't you have a dishwasher? F&P? It brings our pots up sparkling. (If using Fairy Platinum). The only faff is removal and refitting of some (plastic type) handles.

No, it was tick box but would go where we have the microwave and didn’t really want one anyway.

Just more torque for long climbs so I didn’t have to go down to 4th,I think I’ve got every thing else .
Yes even the built in laundry basket!! Oh that’s a nice touch, wonder why it’s not more commonplace🤷‍♂️🤔🤔

With you on that one Brian, this van is backwards step in hat department compared to the Flair.
