Am I just dim?
Tried lots of ways and simply cannot get hot water working. Handbook is thin on detail and dealer hasn't yet responded to messages.

On gas, the flame icon on the control panel comes on but goes out after around 10 seconds & the electric icons don't come on at all when on EHU. Fuse box is fine. Water heater is under bench seat.

Am I missing something really basic - like there's a switch somewhere?

Thanks - Stupid from Southampton

Should be some gas taps - usually red possibly under the sink or in a cupboard somewhere

The water heater gas tap on our Elddis is just by the water heater as arrowed, in line with the gas pipe is gas on.

There is a red button down by the water heater that needs pressing, it's a cut off switch.. Pops up when you don't turn the water heater off at the control panel correctly. Ie when you disconnect ehu or just drive off without first shutting down via the control panel. The button is not readily accessible, best to check your manual to locate it. It's close to the boiler drain tap on mine.

The problem is the manual doesnt even tell me where the water heater is let alone info on a red button to press. It explains in detail how to turn the heating on but the hot water instructions are virtually zilch

Made me smile .....’shitting down via the control panel’
but then I’m just childish

I will take a photo tomorrow, it's nothing to do with the gas manifolds.

The circuit board went on ours at 6 months old (2014 model) , they replaced the whole heater, symptoms were a clicking noise from the board, sounded like a relay pulling in and out. The new one's been OK.

Just a thought, make sure the winter cover has been removed?

This is from an online image

It's the red button on the right, from your picture it's at the back of your set up.you might need a mirror to see it.for info there is also one on the hot air heater,.but is in between the ducts.

Upon initial operation, or to refill after the system has been drained, check the drain valve is closed then fill the system with clean fresh water. To fill, open one hot tap and switch on the water pump. Leave the tap open to allow air to escape while the Water Heater is filling. Once water flows smoothly out of the hot tap, the water heater is filled. To allow the remainder of air to escape from the system, open each hot water tap in turn until water flows smoothly.

This bit from the Whale manual might be relevant (cough) Bought the MH new from the dealer - but no mention of filling the water heater - the assumption was that filling the MH fresh water tank with the hose outside would automatically cause the water heater to be filled too. If I had been given a copy of the Whale manual, it may have helped....

So, are you up and running now with hot water?

and now I'm thinking that if water comes out of the tap when set to the hot position, then the hot water tank must be full.....mustn't it?

Nope - just been out to look and it seems I have no red button :frowny:. Took me 5 minutes to crawl into the cupboard......

You will have to download the handbook and Che k it. My van is a 2017 model, what's yours?

I believe the 2020 models have a new style water heater without a reset button. To reset it is a sequence of buttons to push on the control panel. I don’t have my manual to hand, but there maybe someone out there with 2020 model who can tell you how to reset on the panel.

On my Rollerteam there is a magnetic switch on the window so it won’t work if the window is open allowing exhaust gas into the van.

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago when in France and was convinced I didn’t have a red reset button despite reading the manual and talking to Whale. It took a bit of an effort crawling in the locker but I eventually found it under the tightly packed cabling that plugs into the unit.

First question...

On the control panel is there a red vertical line next to the water drop icon?

If yes your boiler has locked out... this needs resetting. There will be a red button on top of the boiler next to the yellow drain switch OR on newer models the reset is done on the control panel by pressing the water button and the temp up button at the same time for around 5-10 seconds.

Newer Whale underfloor water heaters don't have a red button. Oh and the water boiler fills automatically when filling the fresh water tank.

Have you got it sorted.??
