I believe It should only send one alert per post. If there are two reasons to alert you such as a tag and a quote then it should only send about one. It's to stop you getting bombarded with emails.

That is not a server issue, that's a software issue, you need to shout at @Jim about that one.

@chockswahay I have just looked at the server mail log and can see you have been sent 3 emails today. There don't appear to be any duplicates. Possibly a problem at your end I think?
