Hi all,
After spending a lovely week in Cornwall I am of the mind that I need to change my Cadac safari chef 2 due to the slightest bit of wind blowing the flame out! I checked everything twice, regulator, level of gas in the bottle, unfortunately I was cooking for 13, I got there in the end but I am now of the mindset that it is the Cadac itself that isn’t up to the job! Saw loads of the Weber around and quite like it...... any advice or reviews would be greatly appreciated, I would also purchase the hot plate to use for typical breakfast stuff.
Thanks
Darren

We made the same change last year and certainly haven’t regretted it. It does work more as a gas barbecue, compared to the Cadac, which I think is an outdoor cooker with a griddle plate. (And I know it’s not a “proper “ barbecue!). Added to which it works well as an oven - we’ve roasted a chicken in ours.

Plus, it’s a lot less hassle to set up, particularly if you have room to store it fully assembled. Washing up the barbecue plates is a lot more manageable. We’ve not got the solid plate yet, but may well add it.

We too have this BBQ, have the solid plate and the pizza stone. Both work well. The oven in the MH is about a size useful as a chocolate fire guard so use it at every opportunity, but it does, as solwaybuggier suggest, takes up quite a bit of space.

I use cadac but a friend has the Q1200

I found it for him on offer online and then went to gooutdoors to use their 10% cheaper price match. He saved about £100 on retail.

Love ours after countless others including cadac, Cobb, lava rock bbq.

Lid down cooking was new to us but you very quickly get used to it and we have cooked whole joints, various veggie dishes and slow cooked ribs etc as well as the usual bbq failure.

Riversidegarden center often have certain colours on sale, we got ours for £179.99.

Also the Weber website has loads of tips and recipes specific to it.

That’s where we got ours, think both us and @TinaL bought at the same time based on recommendation on here. The black was on offer when we bought and although I liked the coloured ones the extra costs weren’t cost effective for us.

Thanks everybody,
Anybody want to buy a Cadac safari 2?

Now looking for the best deal - seen them for 199 at the moment.

Has anyone tried to connect a Weber Q up to an external gas outlet (like a Bullfinch connector)? I'm having a nightmare matching UNF threads and fittings. From my measurements it looks like the thread on the BBQ valve is 1/2" UNF 20 TPI left handed and I've been looking everywhere for a fitting that I can attach to a longer hose and onto the Bullfinch barb end.

Yes we have a Q1000 for 11 years now and have it on a 3mtr pipe I think I used the original fitting, any Weber dealer should supply you with that fitting.

Thanks, I'll send them an email.

Could try this, I have used mine the first time this week! Love it but using it with the canisters at the moment, I am also looking for the option to run from the gas point on the vehicle. I will probably order it, however looks the same as is on my Cadac.

You would obviously need the female side to make it a quick coupling.
Possibly full kit?

Brilliant find, Dazzler1969
I'm quite near them so will pop in next time I'm passing. Thanks so much.

Yep this is what I use on the van and at home on my Q1200+Q2200 - I love them and work really well as long as you keep the lid down when cooking .
