When i turn the hot tap on the water spurts and makes funny noises, am i supposed to turn the pump on?

Yes turn pump on then bleed through starting with shower,hand basin and then sink. Make sure you have water in the tank

To drain put all taps in the middle position with the pump off to drain both hot & cold taps.
After draining it's normal practice to refill the cold taps first { including the toilet flush } then the hot taps. The hot taps usually take longer to fill as the water boiler needs to completely fill.
Your water system is then full of water and all air should be purged.
Remember to drain in winter in an unheated van to avoid 'expensive' frost damage.
Potable water also goes stale over time.

Thankyou, its one tap in the kitchen, right for cold and left for hot,and in the loo,its the same and the shower head comes out of the tap,so i should run on cold then.

Pull through all cold water one tap at a time { nearest to the water pump first etc }.
If your toilet is plumbed in to your water system it is basically a cold water 'tap'
Then hot taps water { nearest to the water pump first etc }
The idea is to purge all air out of your pipework and replace the air fully with water..
By doing it in sequence you will avoid air locks in the system.
