I’ve had a Wastehog for a couple years now but as anyone who also has one will know it’s extremely heavy when full, it feels like lifting the full 46kg off the ground. I’m conscious that if I accidentally dropped the thing on a hard surface whilst wheeling it to the waste it’d probably split. Either way it’s a very heavy thing to drag along.

I’m thinking of having a wheeled dolly fabricated to hold the upper end by the handle whilst moving it to the waste, has anyone already made such a thing, any suggestions? I’m thinking of using large golf trolley wheels like the ones fitted to the bottom as they’ll be needed on grass pitches.

Thanks folks I’m aware there are other grey waste containers out there so don’t need suggestions on other products, I‘m happy with the Wastehog if I can sort out a dolly.

I thought the wastehog had wheels at the end so are you looking for something that would go under the whole lot and have a handle to trundle it along flat or something to go under the handle to lift that more easily?

Wouldn't that still mean you would have to lift it to empty it?

Sorry if I am being very stupid here.

I have a wastemaster which is a different shape to the wastehog. I used to use a bucket but the outlet on the current mh is too low to get a bucket under it.
As long as it isnt full to the brim the thin end of the wastemaster isnt heavy to lift. Emptying can need a bit of a lift.

I use the wheels that are fitted to my waste tank. Same wheels as my water tank though. I drive to the services. It’s a motorhome not a caravan.

It needs something under the handle to help moving it, there are wheels but it’s still very heavy to drag along, I’d still need to lift it to empty it but that’d be easy after dragging it several hundred metres to the waste point.

Welcome to have a go, the weight certainly doesn’t.

I didn’t understand it was a motorhome and not a caravan when I bought it, and that there are wholly different rules for the two, I apologise for my ignorance.

I just wanted something I could enjoy holidays in, I didn't know I wasn’t allowed to empty the grey waste on a motorhome as I saw fit other than moving to a service point, and that was only allowed and correct in a caravan. Please could you point me to the rules you are referring to so I won’t continue to be so ignorant.

I’m looking for design suggestions not sarcasm, thanks.
Scuse me Wickenman ! I wasn’t being sarcastic in any way shape or form. It was a suggestion to help you move it easier.
If I was trying to be sarcastic I can assure you you would know it!

I used a wastemaster for years.
yes, it can be heavy, but it has wheels to get to the disposal point. The only difficu,ty is if you have to lift it to empty it - but most place have a drive over emptypoint and its just a matter of opening the appropriate drain point.

We're is the sarcasm it was a sensible suggestion.

You won't like my suggestion then, your motorhome has got wheels & an engine why not drive to the waste point, that's what I do.

I thought it was a sensible suggestion to lessen the weight. I don't actually know the problem as I have a smaller fiama container that I have no problem with, so a suggestion of change to a more manageable container is also not unreasonable.
At least you've got replies, more than some of my posts
Having just read the posts during my typing I will not mention another method that other people use

If the Wastehog’s 46kg load is starting to become physically challenging, perhaps it’s time to consider alternative solutions rather than seeking to fabricate a one off fix for such? An easy solution would be to reduce the volume/load and make more trips to the grey waste point for disposal (the little and often approach). Other options include use of a drive over Motorhome grey waste point or smaller waste carriers & folding trolleys as/if necessary. Presumably, none of these options are new/unknown to you.

We had a wastehog with wheels, i gave it to my sister who has a caravan, we either use a collapsible bucket or let it run in the tank and drive over to the empty point.

I have the same problem with my big wastehog. When it’s full, it is too heavy and unwieldy to get it to the drain.

There are still some sites without a drive-over grid and I don’t always want to move the van just for that.

Yesterday, I treated myself to a small container like this which I will use with a trolley.

This is not sarcasm or anything other than I don't understand why you need one at all.
Havnt you got a grey water tank already on your van, we have only a small one but it lasts us two or three days which is as long as we stay in one place, then just drive to the emptying as we go.
Thought that is what everyone did.
If you definitely can't manage without one surely a smaller one is the answer. (y)

In my experience this design with folding wheels wont take any weight at all
There are definitely different qualities of trolley.

I’ve had one for probably 15 years which has been well used and abused carrying band equipment and toilet cassette - not at the same time obviously 😀

As most people have alluded to, the simple solution would be to empty the grey waste container more frequently rather than building/buying something to carry or move the container that you still have to lift at some point.
The suggestion to fill it less was in my opinion a none sarcastic comment aimed at helping you from several of the most knowledgeable and helpful people on the forum i.e. Lenny HB and Badknee

I like the suggestion by Janine for the smaller container.

I like the suggestion by @Janine for the smaller container.
We carry a very similar sized container in case there is no available drive over disposal point or it’s inconvenient to move the van to use one. The container is small enough not to require much storage space and light enough to carry when full to the disposal point when necessary. But we also have a sturdy folding trolley if it’s a bit of a trek…

This is in the spirit of trying to be helpful and not meant to be derogatory or sarcastic so please don't take it in that way.

Would something like a skate board pushed under and strapped to the handle help? I'm thinking you wouldn't have to lift the full and heavy tank very much and hopefully the "bottom" wheels would work so you would have 4 wheels rather than two. Either that or a "car creeper" on a small scale

How you take your waste water to the correct dump place on site is your own business. We often use a bucket and either empty the tank into the bucket and take that to the grey water disposal area (great if you are staying in one place for a few days as then you don't have to move the van) or we have even just left the grey drain tap open so it drains directly into the bucket. If it is windy that's not such a good option. We empty the bucket twice a day if we use the "leave open" option. If we are not stopping long we empty the grey tank as we leave the site by using a drive over grid but from time to time there isn't such a thing and it is a bucket job which is a pita if one of us hasn't scoped it out when walking round the site.
