I'm a newbie
Hello,

I am completely new to MHF so hello!

Pretty new to motorhomes but just completed the first trip and loved the experience. Used to own a caravan so perhaps this reflects in how I find the waste water emptying.

I am not too keen on moving the MH everyday to fetch and dump water especially with CL fields that are a bit waterlogged at the moment. I have decided to use an Aquaroll for fresh and a Hitchman type dual height for waste. The only issue is only the thinner end fits under the waste tap which means extra trips.

Wondered what people tend to do, drive or use an aquaroll, and whether anyone has tips on getting rid of waste water. :)

I use a watering can to top up the fresh each day and empty the waste when leaving the site, it holds about a weeks worth of waste water.

My partner loves to cook, how we can use 80l a day is quite shocking
Be like the rest of us! Stinky minging (good Scots word that!) and stop washing!:whistle2::wink:

10l for filling once pitched if no tap close enough, 40l waste with wheels to empty if required.

I’m not sure how you use that much ?. With 3 of us we emptied it every 4 days and it wasn’t full but we don’t shower in the van. The toilet cassette needed emptying every 3rd day though.
Filling fresh wasn’t a hassle - we just made sure we used a tap well away from the toilet cassette washing - having watched some MHers hygiene was dubious!
Emptying is trickier though ... can involve a bit of manoeuvring.
I did see some aquaroll and also some people using buckets ...

Just choose to use the facilities at times when every man and his pet sheep aren't in there doing the same thing.
I can have the entire building to myself some days just by choosing the right time for a visit

I do my bit but other half is the type to take up half the van weight limit with toiletries it seems

It more an issue of CL sites without facilities. We choose them for more space between pitches and they are less crowded.

A lot of CL's will let you dump the water on the border or hedgerow etc. In bone dry conditions on the more rustic CL sites, I would be tempted to leave the tap open under the van with a sieve to catch solids.

Every day! :Eeek:
How much water do you get through?
I would think you'd have a 50ltr or 60ltr grey waste tank and 70ltr fresh water at least.

Once the fresh water tank starts to run down I top up using an aquaroll with plug in 12v pump, beats all that fetching and carrying. Disposal of grey waste is easy using a wastemaster with a flexible pipe attached to the drain if ground clearance is a problem. Other than that, drive backwards and forwards to the service points or occasionally book a service pitch.

Here you go, optimal solution!
Don't take the other half. Increased payload and less water consumption.(y)
Oh, and the Funster solo club gets another member.:)

How much!
We use about 35 Lt a day if we both have a daily shower so we can last 4 -5 days without refilling or emptying miss the odd shower 5 or 6 days.

We use a 50L aquaroll with 12v pump, wastehog & colapz waste pipes. Onboard fresh is 100L, waste is 85L.

Big watering cans to fill.
Waste container as above to hold/empty grey until leaving.

Thank you all for your tips and feedback. For our next trip we have the aquaroll and hitchmans wastemaster and 12v pump. The Colapz pipes look great. Thanks for that tip.

We have about a 100l fresh tank and 70l waste but it looks like we could also do with using less water.

For the waste you need a magic bucket, i.e. one that never fills up. If they want it in the hedgerow get a flexible corrugated plastic tube that fits the diameter of your outlet.

For the water use a 10l watering can. Amazing how many interesting conversations you have that way. Or get a couple of the shrinking type hoses. We have a 30m and a 15m one that can be joined together. Gets us to many taps

We normally just empty and fill when leaving an aire or site. We don't normally stay more than a couple days and can go at least 4 days with the two of us including daily showers.
If necessary I have a watering can and a bucket for waste, also two extending hoses 75ft if joined together, but usually manage with a short 6ft one. Also swmbo will use site showers if available though I won't.

We carry 2 X 50 litre fresh water containers when we go tripping, fill 100ltr fresh tank & containers on arrival, store by van & pump in with spare whale pump when needed.

200 litres last us an awfully long time even showering every day.

Our recent acquisition, what a breeze to get water now. Have used most derivatives to collect water, traipsing back and too with watering can, several 5ltr water containers. We use hose initially, then use the aqua roll with An ebay 12v pump.
