I have the above sim card and am now in France, do I have to have data roaming on to use it? I don't remember having to do that before with my phone but have no Internet otherwise.

Interested to hear on this as I’ll be swapping my SIM card to the above tomorrow and transferring everything from 3. I asked if the data can be used abroad and they said it can but unsure on whether roaming has to be on.

Yes u have to have roaming switched on works very well i would set a data cap somewhere around 90gb to make sure u dont get any unexoected bills plus set a low bill cap as well

Yes, give them a ring and ask for it to be turned on permanently, it might already be.
As for a data cap, simply ask or use the app to set it to zero. Then when the data is done it will simply stop. The minutes will carry on ok though.

A 100gb is a lot though, the most we have got through is about 65gb in a month. If you are away longer of course it just starts again on the due date. Overall it works well.

As said above , don’t use sms for pictures. Use WhatsApp or similar. I only have 20 gig but have not yet needed more.

Is this deal best 'gotten' from Vodaphone direct or is there a cheaper route?

The coverage map looks passable for home so I'm considering using it instead of the broadband so I can seamlessly take it with me in the van.

GPW check out mobiles.co.uk but the deal ends on Tuesday.

Generally 'roaming' is always on your SIM card account, it doesn't need to be asked for anymore. There will be a software 'switch' in your device to enable device roaming, which is the device allowing the SIM to connect to a network other than its home network when abroad.

With Vodafone you can enable a 'Spend Manager' either when you took out the SIM or via your online account. For a data SIM I would do this at £0 as additional data is like £6 per GB, however for a phone SIM you may wish to set it higher in case you break down and need to call a premium or local number which are outside of your free minutes plan.

The Vodafone deals are changing on the 10th July as they are launching a new unlimited tariff which for the UK could represent better value but has a 25GB usage cap abroad. Not sure where the 100GB plan will fit in given it's the same price point.

Thanks I've signed up to the 100gb £14 deal now, carefully avoiding the £15 Mobiles club membership ;). Yay!
