Victron IP22 no good for Gel Batteries ????

Two important things to realise about Victron device names.
'Blue' does not mean Bluetooth, it means that it is one of their range of Blue coloured devices, with the colour designation RAL 5012 to be precise.
'Smart' does not mean smart charger, as in multi-stage intelligent charger, it means that there is a Bluetooth module integrated into the device, for communication with the App and other Victron Smart devices.

IP numbers, such as IP22 and IP65, are international standard 'Ingress Protection' standards. The first number is protection from ingress by solids, such as fingers, screwdrivers and dust. 2 means proof against finger-sized solids, but not screwdrivers or dust. 6 means proof against dust.
The second number is protection from ingress by liquids. 2 means proof against splashes from the top direction, but not from all directions, and not hose jets or immersion. 5 means proof against hose jets from any direction.

For example, mains consumer units are usually IP20, which means protected from fingers but not screwdrivers, and zero protection against liquids.
Thank you - I understand IP ratings, and Victron's Bluetooth nomenclature my observation was simply there are numerous products grouped by an IP rating, which for some markets is not necessarily the main selection criteria.......

Not anymore CU or any box with live switch gear, including trunking, needs IP 4X or IPDD to prevent ingress/ access by a 1mm wire to live parts.
The 0 on solids often is replaced by X= not specified, when the IP is only required for solids.
