Very unhappy purchasers!

Well done him. We've just watched his 15-minute video and his van is truly crap.

I'll get this posted via a friend on the Autotrail Unhappy Owners Club and perhaps we can get a few hundred of them to attend as well. There's quite a few rejecting their vans at the moment so I'm sure they would be interested in something like this.

I had no intention of visiting the NEC this year but that's going to change now.

Good man. This is what these companies need.

Lots of complains about auto trail vans recently, once all I saw was complaints about Swift vans and auto trail being excellent. So what make is next in the firing line?

Who can we believe ?

I've seen the video now some things i'm not sure he needs to be complaining about some i feel his right i would assume its his first van as dropping the brake to spin a seat is nothing unusual, water pooling on the roof isn't unusual as the van will never be level .oven door that doesn't open fully?surely that would have been the same on any similar vehicle he viewed a small van is always going to be a compromise with space and door clashes. but i do agree the finish is abysmal the screw through the door would expect a new door fitted properly i would expect water gauges to work for the first year at least

I did a similar thing once . We went on holiday and the car parking dammaged my car then stuck the door mirror back on with duck tape wrapped around on itself so it couldn't be seen. They denied all knowledge so I gave out leaflets at East Mids arrivals to people getting on their transfer bus. They won in the end I gave up as I was getting so stressed about £100 but didn't use them again so they lost out in the end. If you look at airport parking all the companies more or less are owned by the same group!

I can’t see the video but from what he’s written I think he’s over estimating the public’s interest in his issues with the dealer. As for instructing the press to photograph only the banners... I’d say the man’s deluded.

If he’s not careful he’ll be on the receiving end of a libel case.

Personally I believe that they have every right to complain! If you pay "New " money ..you expect the very best your money can get. If it was secondhand then , the argument would be different. Long and short of it is that they have been shafted! Full stop!
Go fo it and sue!

dropping the brake to spin a seat is nothing unusual ............................. oven door that doesn't open fully?
Dropping the handbrake to rotate the seat might not be unusual but it certainly shouldn't be necessary. And what happens if the van is on levelling ramps? Or a steep slope? (I know the answers but again chocking the wheels shouldn't be necessary). It isn't beyond the wit of man to devise a handbrake that can be pushed down once applied - my van has one. If the oven door doesn't open fully how do you remove the shelves?

Surely he does not have a democratic right to park on private land and carry out his protest.

It seems to me the more motorhoming becomes popular the lower the level of service provided. The dealers constantly blame the manufacturers for not paying them enough for repair work. Until this supposed situation is remedied I expect this to continue.

I also consider a lot of youngsters under 30 who work in repair trades to have the training and manual skills of a baboon.

I don’t think I’d be happy with the van either, but, we had an Autosleeper and to turn the seats round, you turn them into the van, not as he was doing it. Then there is no need to adjust the seat back, but it will still touch the handbrake, but not enough to bother about releasing it.

Good luck Theonlysue.
My Hymer is just over 2yrs old and I've had a number of problems. Issues with the hab door & fridge are ongoing.
I've been emailing Travelword since May and not getting anywhere until I gave them a sh*t review on Google and then emailed the owners to tell them (just in case they missed the review). Owner phoned me the next day and hopefully things will now get sorted.

We turn them in and if necessary slide the driver's seat to clear the steering wheel. No problem with handbrake that way.

Half of those moans we have and accept as normal -- the rattling cooker top, only cure a towel. The oven door, ours hits the bed, but it opens enough. Grill, don't all grills interfere with the oven door ? A squeaking door, what's wrong with a squirt of lubricant ?

He comes across as a moaning git by going over the top on trivial bits instead of concentrating on real problems that should be fixed if he motivated the dealer to do them.

That sat installation was appalling.

Lot's of references in this thread which seem to blame Autotrail yet he is complaining about an AutoSleepers MH ?

Undoubtedly there are some issues with his van that aren't right, and should be looked at. A couple of things like the glovebox door are the base vehicle and that's probably how it is when it left Italy and noone would be worrying about it in a courier's van. I thought all cookers and suchlike things were probably going to rattle - first thing my dealer said on handover on my van is that people travel with cloths laid over the hob and find ways to pack the shelves, as he put the microwave's glass plate into the pocket on the back of the passenger seat. And as for protection of wiring, pipes and stuff, that could be done, but half the cupboard space would get lost with all the extra housings?

On the other hand if I should have been nitpicking to this level on my just collected van then I've done myself

I'm in Hanover that week but its almost worth coming back and doing something similar on the Hymer stand as a member of the "Leaky Creaky Hymer Owners Club" so we can start to make our voices heard

He will be moved straight off by security, it’s all private and he has no legal right to be there.

Not saying he is right or wrong, but security will turf him off

If the public have access it is public.

I've not watched the videos, but I just hope this fella doesn't make it his life's work to campaign like this. Some people have enjoyed success with such tactics, mostly they just get ulcers with the worry, life really is too short to spend a year or more of it angry.

The more the merrier IMO. His/our protest should be about motorhome quality in general so if youve got a dodgy Hymer then get stuck in and make your voice count.
