We don’t have air con and I can’t stand the flappy flap flap of the roof vent with the black out blind pulled . How do funsters maximise ventilation without too much noise / bugs . Ps I have a ish powered fan but gnats fart more powerfully than that thing

Windows open, bug screens across, get up at dawn because it’s light!

Never heard a roof vent do that.
What type of vent is it?
It’s the typical roof vent with the option of a bug screen , paper black out blind or closed

We don't get anything flapping?

Just have windows and rooflights open, and if really hot, sliding side door. And if really, really hot during the day, rear barn doors wide open too so the breeze just wafts through... :giggle:

Fly screens and / or blinds at night - but no flapping. (y)

I had this problem last week when we were away. What I did was have the blind 3/4 closed and the fly screen 1/4 closed. It lets some light in but I still sleeped to 8 am. It was the big roof vent in the living area not the one over the bed.

You don't need the blinds closed.

Mega tip this: Get a piece of twin and earth cable and strip 19" of the earth out of it (I used 1.5mm²). Fold it into a roundy oblong, overlap 5mm and solder it to itself. Then insert into a sock, lay it on your face and shape it over your nose so it blocks all the light out. It works brilliantly 😊
Much better than the patch things you buy.

Also works for when you have to endure the TV on all night 🙄

I solved our roof light blackout screen rattling by fitting a soft brush strip down each side of the screens track which stops it from rattling even in windy conditions when open. (y)

Where did you source the brush from ?

I have some of the brush pile and the plastic trim it's mounted on spare. If you want some, let me know the length of each side you need and I'll knock you a couple up.
