we are taking delivery of a new replacement motorhome at the end of this year with a Motorhome WiFi system installed using a Smarty sim
We are hopefully going to spend more time away from home but for the time that we are home and the van is outside could we use the vans WiFi in the house this would save an awful lot of money instead of paying for a phone line we don’t use and broadband your help and advice would be very appreciated
Regards Robert and Yvonne

Yes but the mifi may not give you all over house coverage you may have to take it room to room with you. Depends the size of your house and wall construction. Ours works reasonably well.

I think it depends! Our van is on the drive, in front of the bungalow. MiFi with Smarty sim. The room we use as an office is at the front. We connect no problems, but we can’t connect from the back room.

We too use mobile wifi in the house although have a router in the house and mifi for the van though use the same sim card. There are cheaper Sims than Smarty

We did try that for a while using a HUAWEI mifi connected to an external wall mounted aerial, okay for normal use but changed over to broadband using a landline, no phone attached to it so use mobiles instead.

My little Huawei pocket sized MiFi is great for the van. But when the van is on the drive, the signal barely gets to the front door. No chance of it getting to the back of the house. However, if you used a WiFi repeater, it might help?

One other thing to consider is that with some many devices now connected via wifi in the home and van, mobile mifi units often have low limits on the numbers of devices that can be connected at any one time. It is amazing how they quickly mount up.

We have a yoigo unlimited sim in a TP Link router for use at home in Spain 🇪🇸. We just unplug it and take it with us using a 12volt to 9 volt transformer to power it in the van. I'm using it now.

Thanks everybody
The van only arrived a few weeks ago with a Motorhome WIFI fitted with Huawei router parked out side
with a Qlocom booster in the middle of the house works a treat landline now gone and broadband contract finished happy days
(y) been using our Huawei moho wifi with a cheapo Chinese extender in the house for 12 months now and no issues. We get a great signal from the roof aerial in the moho and the extender covers the 4 bed detached easily. No landline or line rental fees - happy days
