Hi, just in the process of uprating the Revenue weight and wondering if we have to send the DVLA, the actual Design Weigh Certificate and plate or whether photocopies are ok.

Not that we don't trust them to loose them, do we.

Many thanks in advance.

All you need to do is send a copy of the DWC and V5C to the DVLA, and ideally a letter telling them what you want them to amend, then apply for the tax band to be changed later on.

Do not under any circumstances send the actual DWC!

SVTech is slightly more expensive but quicker.lol

I sent DVLA a copy of the DWC and the original V5C on which I had marked the new Revenue Weight and provided a covering letter to ensure they fully understood the change. A new V5C came back within a week showing the new revenue weight.

Two on Tour
We’ve done ours with John
Thanks for the info
Also do you just put the numbers in the revenue box or do you have to put kg as well
Thanks

Christ, that's a first for the DVLA.

Do everything you can to draw the DVLA's attention to what you want to end up with including a copy of John's covering letter.
I did that with my own covering letter and even highlighted in red the section F1 for Max permissible mass change and still the new V5 was returned with that at the old weight.

What about the MH weight though? Had they altered both bits? They often do Revenue but not the other.

Unless you specify in words of one syllable that you want both the Revenue weight and MAM changing they will only change the revenue weight.
Took them over 4 months to get it right on my last van.

Great forum, great advice, I’m doing mine so been really helpful ?

One question, I get my new van on Wed so will be registered then, uprated rear tyres already fitted at PDI, air suspension being fitted Fri, will have DWC on Monday, do I have to wait for the V5 to arrive before getting the updating done? Thanks

I’m going from 4,250 kg to 4,850kg so what bits do I have to fill in on the V5C?

Why aren't you getting the dealer to do it at 1st registration.... Assuming it is new

It is new and first registration but because I pick it up on Wed and the air suspension is not being fitted until Friday, and I have to supply proof to the engineer before it gets signed off, same goes for the tyre upgrade although they have already been fitted ?

Just got mine back, yes they only changed the revenue weight not the MAM ?

My V5C has never shown a maximum permissible mass even from before upgrading. Maybe because the vehicle is so old?

Even if it delays picking it up I would get it done at first registration otherwise it will be a load of greif

I suspect because it's not just a paper exercise it will have to be registered first at the original weight (or maybe the highest rate it can be without any mods), then once the mods have been made (not at the dealers) the engineer will want to see the original V5C to confirm the vehicle's details and confirm the changes which have been made are sufficient to allow it to be uprated.

Therefore as the suspension upgrade will be done other than at the selling dealer's premises I don't think there's any option but to do the full uprate later as the dealer isn't gonna take it to have the suspension played with until 596 has paid for it in full and 596 isn't gonna pay for it in full until it has been registered in his name ... so catch 22.

Just got mine back, yes they only changed the revenue weight not the MAM ?

I'm on my 3rd with no mam update after attaching letters, emailing specifics and speaking to them on the phone. It's funny really how cr4p they have been. Whatever you do dont send originals they lost those aswell as that happened to me.
