What are your priorities e.g. price,grip,road noise,longevity......?

No priorities as such just dont want to ride on stones like i have been on the michelin tyres i have now, they are horrible, price is not a issue just want a nice ride.

Some good info on this recent thread...

The important bit will be the tyre pressures....👍🏼

For me the less pressure the better the ride, lol but not the real answer, just need some better tyres now they due for a change, think i am going with the Falken or if Blackcircle can convince me there equivalent are just as good maybe go with them.

My Hymer came with Continental vancontact 4season, I'm no expert but no concerns so far.

Do you know what make these will be?

I don't think even Blackcircles know until the dispatch day - they just use it as a tool to balance stock. They will probably be some unknown Chinese brand that will barely outperform the branded European tyres

Fitted Hankook Vantra LT RA18 to our MH to replace the crap Continental Vanco Camper tyres.
The Continental's were as hard as nails, the Hankook's are a much more comfortable ride and less road noise.

Am I right in thinking the motorhome specific tyres from Michelin and Continental will always give a harder ride because of the reinforced walls?

With so many suspension and tyre pressure variations around I think the answer is nobody knows but everybody has an opinion :giggler:

According to Continental the reinforced walls give better stability. I suppose motorhomes are generally taller than a normal white van.

The bone jarring ride with Micheins is down to them insisting a stupidly high pressure, regardless of the load imparted on the tyres.
Be it a 3300kgs MAM oldie or a 5000kgs leviathan, what do they say? 80psi?

Have a look at EVERY car or van on the road and the tyre pressures should be altered to compensate for the load.

What's so different about Michelin that their tyres are THE ONLY TYRE that insists on 80psi regardless of load.

Yes,I’d go along with that. I’ve got Michelin Moho tyres and don’t have a problem with them, but I’ve never had anything else as it’s our first van and they were on it when we bought it.
Some folk also complain about their lack of grip, but I’ve never had a problem with that, despite some very muddy situations...just press the ASR button and take my foot off the peda.
Having said that,I’ll probably change to something else when I replace them next year as they will then be 7 years old.

Agreed, that is a bit daft. I go with 65 in fronts and 80 rear which seems to work well.

Yes, having had both the Contis give a much better ride. Also depends on suspension set up, current van with Michelins on it was like driving on stone wheels. Glad to get rid of them, 3 years suffering was enough.

Because Michelin insist on their policy, I will not buy them.

I rely on balancing the psi with the load and I have no problems whatsoever with road holding, comfort and fuel consumption.

I've recently had fitted the Falken Euroall Season VAN11 225/75 tyres and, so far, I am very please with them. Such a great improvement over the Michelin tyres.

My Carthago came with Michelin Agilis Camping tyres. Fortunately the manual also came with some sensible tyre pressures.

I find the ride reasonably comfortable. Some of this comfort may come from the Al-Ko chassis. My previous motorhome had Continental tyres and a Mercedes chassis and the ride was awfully hard

Waiting for Blackcircles to come back to me with why i should use there tyres ove the Falken, ill let you know what they say.

They also seem to allow a 2550kg axle load on a 2500kg tyre capacity - intersting

I went for the Toyo as they are one of the few winter/4 season tyres that are not directional. I like to be able to swap the spare with the fronts to even out the wear.

This talk of tyres and hard ride with Michelin’s makes me wonder if I did something different. My last van a Transit based Duetto was on Michelin’s when we bought it. I can’t remember it being a hard ride. I used it as transport to work most days.
When we swapped to the Rienza it needed four tyres so I bought Continental Vanco on price from Tyres on the Drive. They had them in stock and were cheaper to buy. Buying four at once any saving on price was not to be missed.
I have to admit the Rienza is a bit of a hard ride especially at the back. I have tried different pressures but it makes little difference. The base Transit is a 300 rear wheel drive so maybe it’s a hard ride to start with.
To save having mixed tyres I think it would be easier to stick with the Continentals for now. I think the o/s front will be next with a tracking check at the same time.

Black circles responce.

Our Blackcircles.com value and quality choice tyres are a range of over 30 different brands that meet the label ratings ordered. The value choice brands would be classed as a budget tyre and the quality choice would be an economy tyre that comes with a lifetime guarantee. The Falken mentioned is an all season, midrange tyre so will offer a different level of performance to the Blackcircles.com value or quality choice ranges.

So Falken it is, ill let you know how i get on with them, lol

Worth shopping around Black circle don't seem that cheap these days, I recently bought some tyres for the car Black Circle were 25% dearer than ATS.

Falken have a good rep. I fitted Toyo Van Observe, like riding on air after the Michelins.
