Hi.
Going to need 6 new tyres soon, I know, ouch!
Thing is I have the obligatory Mitchelin campers on, which I dont rate and would like to change to something that gives a better ride, is dual season, not just summer, better value for money.
Therefore looking for peoples real experience with alternatives, whether that be Hankook, Toyo, Continental etc.
My van is 5 tonne tag and is rated to 5.25 tonnes, so Im interested in people that have these alternatives on a heavier van please.
Also read somewhere about concerns from manufacturers about not using Mitchelin or Continental camper tyres, any substance to this?
Thanks

I ran Michelin Agilis Alpin full winters all year round on a very similar van to what you described
Very confident when in wet weather and if it was required to go on grass pitches and when on a motor way in Austria in deep snow I was very pleased only thing I’d say I didn’t run them at the stated pressure I reduced it it as I’d feel every bump/hole but that could well have been the motorhome
ps ive two for sale if yours are 17”

I recently changed to Toyo Observe Van, it's a winter tyre no problems using all year round. Comfortable ride, good grip & handling low noise. A few other Funsters have fitted them all pleased with them.

BS Camping tyres aren't even made in some sizes & load rating some vans require. e.g. N&B's are normally fitted with all season tyres not camping tyres.

All depends on who you trust, the Moho and tyre manufacturer, or some guy on an internet forum who you have probably never met.
Also ask yourself if your insurance company are likely to try any way of not paying a claim that could run over a million.

I just changed from Michelin Agilis Alpin tyres as I had never used my van in the winter, went for Nokian Roadian and went up one rating. Someone else on here recommended them, I would highly recommend
Camskill Tyres, they were by far the cheapest company around.

I would rather trust Funsters real world experiences than company bullshit, I use those that have suffered the cracking in the sidewalls and between the treads as an example

Hi bigtree which model number type of Nexen tyre did you go for?, There are so many Nexens to choose from i.e winter, M&S, AT etc.
I was looking at The CT8 HL, but at 225x75xR16 it shows Load rating of 115/112, was hoping for 121.
They look like decent tyres though, certainly something to consider when its time to change.
Many Thanks.

Hi,
It was the CT8’s that I bought,
205/75/16 113/111
My previous tyres were 110/108.
