So, I've decided that with tonight's lottery syndicate winnings I'm going to upgrade my pvc tyres from 215/70 15 to 225/75 16

I've done a all my research, decided exactly what tyre's I what, and what alloy wheels I'm going for etc but here is the question

I normally get my tyre's from the likes of camskill etc and get them fitted locally on mates rates (free)

So the best price on line is Camskill at £151 each, so £604 for the set

But, there's a seller on ebay doing the exact same set for £440! Basically better than buy 3 and get one free

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=324204897896

Anyone any idea how they can do them so cheap?

Another Funsters bought some on eBay date was fine on them. As Martin says ask for the date code on them.

I’ve seen those on ebay. They are good value with a good load rating, but not true camper tyres as they haven’t got the CP suffix on them. I think someone on here said they are just van tyres. But still look a bargain

Far better IMO can't stand the Michelin Camper tyres my van came with.

Yes, they are just "van" tyre's, but at the end of the day, my pvc is a van!

I've got Michelin campers on at the moment and don't have any issue's, just want bigger and more off road (wet grass etc) ability

I find them awful, terrible lack of grip, traction control always cutting in, horrible hard ride & wear rate not that good.
I've got plenty of weight on the front axle around 1930 kg and have Goldschmitt full air suspension and the ride is still very hard.

That seller operates out of my wife’s works business centre, I emailed him to ask if my wife could pick them up as she works there, he won’t answer me!! I don’t know anything other than that🤷‍♂️

So what is a moho if not just a van???

It is quite a different animal, a van is rarely fully laden and then only the local builder !
A motorhome is almost at ( and over often) MA U W. In deed axle weight is very close to max.
Different animal different requirements for tyres, plus often they sit for long periods of time in the sun, allegedly CP tyres have a UV protection, personally not convinced of this.
I fit my own tyres and balance them, change them as recommended, it's the only thing I have between me and the road! Plus I keep to the designers tyre size etc. They employ design engineer's not my field of expertise.

I was talking to local garage owner about replacement tyres. He does a lot of work on motor homes and has one himself and his opinion is that standard van tyres are as good as anything. He thinks the creation of the camper van tyre was simply to win business from the customer.
Everyone will have their own opinion but I have not seen anything convincing about the need for camper tyres.

Our Chausson bought, new had, van tyres on.

Goodyear Marathons, no issues at all .

ps its 3500kg max.
maybe CP tyres are for the bigger heavier vans?

From what I understand, CP tyres have stronger sidewalls for the added weight and so can take more PSI,,but I’ll think you find there will be loads of different funsters opinions on this, always your choice though.

So are you suggesting that millions of Ford/MB/Renault/Citroen etc etc on our roads are not fit for purpose because the manufacturers fit sub standard tyres because they know nobody is going to be daft enough to use there vans at full capacity as intended by makers...
After all my van can carry more than your van can is a big manufacturers selling point.

What added weight....
A 3500t or a 4500t van is designed to carry that weight.... same as a 3500t or a 4500t motorhome
So where does this extra weight come from?????

The 16's seem quite a bit more everywhere than the 15's at the moment (paid £444 for 4 x 225/70 15 a few months back).

Great tyres though IMO (y)

That's strange, as he's replied back to me almost immediately after I've messaged him

I understand Lego do a very good tyre.
(And will probably be your budget if you're relying on your Syndicate winnings)

Oh but they have too cause their tyres are sub standard and will explode if they get anywhere near their max load...🤣🤣🤣
