Our motorhome sits in our drive for the majority of the year (not yet retired so limited opportunities), however the recent hot weather and intense sunlight got me wondering how many Funsters use tyre/wheel covers to protect the tyres from the UV affects?

Is it worth it?

Yep, we use wheel covers. For what they cost, why not. 👍

Do dealers bother to cover the tyres of ‘vans on their forecourts……..?

Dito, on the sunny side. Lost the first set (with deep tread) to cracking by sun damage…. I assume🤔

Mine is in the storage yard and in direct sunlight on the near side, so have 2 sheets of an old cardboard box over them and held in place by supporting them with blocks of wood.

Dont have to pay wads for something, just get em covered.

I have pondered this question too. The UV is very strong down here. What I would like to know is, how fidly is it to attach the fabric covers? I’d prefer to have something more solid that props up against the side of the tyre but I’ve never seen any.

Mine fit in under 60 secounds and held on with velcro - bought from the NEC show in Birmingham

Cover mine when at home. Less fussy when away as it's a bit of a faff doing it every day or two. Did take my old lightweight ones when I went to France earlier this summer but the only place I stayed for any time was quite shady so didn't bother.

Mine is in storage and sheltered on one side by a wall and on the other by a large caravan so I don't bother

use four old curtains and tied with string when home. not used on sites as covers seem to walk!

Here we go, just been to storage as we’re away tomorrow, so took a piccy 👍🏻

Nothing elaborate at all and the sheet in the passenger window is to do the same keeping the sun out and the curtains are in the wash 👍🏻

Guy down the road has made some covers up from some white upvc cladding cut into a semicircle which fits inside the wheel arch and covers the tyre. Looks neat.

Big range available, from swanky fitted ones to bin liners. Take your pick.

Well little old cheapskate me we cover all our tyres as where we park get sunshine morning noon and evening so
4 £2 tarps from Poundland and 4 bungee cords does the job the last lot had silver on one side so Silver side out job done

and as most of our trips this year have been to hot places they're quick and easy to throw on
