We are now in the queue at Plymouth waiting to board the 2200 overnight crossing to Roscoff. Charlie is with us so that expensive AHC must have been correctly filled out!

Our first destination is the CCP site at Cléder a short distance from Roscoff where we are going to stay for a full week. This isn't our normal method of touring but we are going to take things easy with some coastal walking and no doubt some wine and shellfish. Easter of course is also a factor as we don't want to be travelling over the holiday. The weather forecast isn't too bad either, dry and light winds mostly

If things go as planned we will head slowly to Bordeaux and then follow the Garonne river to its source in the Spanish Pyrenees. Or maybe will do something else!

I've brought my radio kit and will be having a play with it from time to time. :)

Have a great trip, I'll look forward to your great photos.
Are you launching anything into low orbit this time ?
I hope Charlie gets to update his blog

No plans to launch anything, I dread to think of the bureaucratic hurdles which I would need to overcome in France. But there is a French group on Facebook "ballons haute altitude france" who launch things from time to time and describe their adventures. :)

The ferry is almost empty, can't be more than a quarter full. I was expecting it to be busy with Easter this weekend and problems with P&O. But I guess Plymouth is a bit far from those looking for alternative crossings to Dover.

It's in no hurry to leave. Now 22:05 and the lights of Plymouth are not moving.

When we came over a week ago Newhaven ferry was really quiet.

We're moving!

This ferry booking originally dates from March 2020. Fortunately, I had booked a flexible ticket so it was fairly easy to shift the date.

Next stop France. :)

Will it look any different? Will there be riots and strikes in the coming weeks? :)

We will find out soon enough....

No changes just even more expensive.

Are you going to get Charlie an EU pet passport in Spain to save on future crossings, we went into Belgium to get Pippa’.

The ferry must have found a way through all the Channel traffic and we've safely arrived and are now currently sitting in the MH parking area at Roscoff port drinking a cup of tea. We were about the 3rd vehicle off the ship and had no problems at customs. Passports stamped in case we over-stay!

Had a problem getting the Teltonika router to connect. The usual turn it on and off trick didn't work so I had to go into the configuration settings and get it to manually scan for operators and connect to Orange France. It hasn't been used outside the UK for over two years so I'll forgive it. :) But this did get me thinking a MiFi controlled through an app would be a lot easier for most folk. The Teltonika configuration settings you access through a browser are a bit daunting.

If we get as far as Spain we will certainly look at that. I've packed all the documentation we might need including proof of the date he was chipped.

The vet we used transfered all the details of the AHC including the rabies and checked chip number.
That cost 33€ ( would have been 30€ if using cash)

After breakfast this morning we drove for about 20 minutes to the Super U supermarket at Cléder, which is west of Roscoff. We did a shop only for a couple of days and will come back on Thursday to stock up for the Easter weekend. From there it was an even shorter drive to the CCP aire on the coast. A wave of our card raised the barrier (which is always a relief!) and we drove in. The first thing we noticed is they have extended it by adding another 14 pitches, which is just as well. When we arrived there were only about 4 MHs here but it filled up during the day and now 18 of the 33 pitches are full. I can only think it will get busier as Easter approaches.

This is the site viewed from the coastal footpath.

I wandered to the rubbish point you can see on the right soon after arriving and noticed an interesting looking caterpillar crossing the road. Its only about 15mm long and I thought from its shape it might be one of the Blue butterflies but looking online it doesn't look as if it is. If any caterpillar experts can help I would be most grateful. :)

They are keen on keeping their beaches clean here. This pile was by the path leading to part of the beach.

Above another beach it was more organised.

Some general shots of the coast, in the first you might see the guardhouse on the far left. A notice explained its function.

Charlie had a good time on the beach and got very sandy!

I made a video which I've posted in Charlie's Dog Blog thread but to save you looking for it this is the link. Best to turn the sound off as it's mostly wind noise. :)

Noticed any improvement in performance.............................?
He's got better at getting sand in his eyes. We've just spent a few interesting minutes trying to wash the beach out of his eyes. Dog (and owners) of little brains we are. :)

When I came back from a short visit to Spain via Roscoff there must have only been about 80 vehicles on the boat and I struggled to count over 100 people, it seemed like a ghost ship…

Have a great trip 👍🏼😎

You can already via the Teltonika RMS app

It comes with one free month access when you purchase a new Teltonika device. Thereafter it’s a case of buying credits from dealers, eBay, etc. to top it up on a month by month basis - currently about £2.10 per credit, but deals are out there and £13.80 for 12 months is the best I’ve seen so far. You can activate/deactivate it as required, so it’s ideal for use as and when needed.

We came through the Pyrenees today and saw a lot of the Garonne but don't know
where it starts. We came via the Viehla tunnel. Have fun!
