Tomorrow, we are heading from Saint Remy to Grenoble way, to a site a bit south of there.

Now, there's a nice, boring, easy looking road. Or there is a terrifying looking windy road that looks exciting.

Has anyone taken the d93 or the d94/ d994 in a 7.5m plus van? Is it for the feint hearted?

I think by the way you have described the two routes, you may have already made your minds up.
I don't know the route you have mentioned, but if its a Balcony Road in a 7mtr plus van I would give it a miss.

Sorry, I can’t make out where you intend to go.

Can you post a picture with both routes on?

Quick look on google street view at different sections and it look like an "A" road, multiple Motorhomes & larger.
Looks OK to me, but then again I drove up Mt Evans/Mt Blue Sky 14,271', the highest paved road in N. America in 8.1m Kon-Tiki.

This is on copilot, not 100% clear but is that good enough? And it's the middle one in thinking of.

The gins have kicked in , I meant to say the safe route is on the right, the interesting route is the middle one, the left one is as yet unknown

If I can see those four wheel refuse bins along a route then I can assume it’ll be okay for us to drive it compared to a bin lorry.

Worked okay even on some of the more concerning tracks in the Cretan mountains!

Gonna risk it. If I don't post again, I hereby leave my collection of singing potatoes to the forum.
Down the middle, go for it.

I've also used Streetview to zoom in and check parking restrictions and restuarant menu's.
Naturally check the Image Capture date, we once turned up and restaurnt had closed since the image was take.

https://earth.google.com is another good resource for general overview as the images are updated far more frequently from satallite
then surface images.

Not sure where your roads are but that area of the vercors is absolutely stunning and full of balcony roads.
Although we did them on a motorbike your dimensions would allow for some of them and I think la combe Laval is one of them. Others are impassable even in SUV car.
I LL find a link to them

I haven’t gone that far south but driven round gap loads. There isn’t a road I wouldn’t be happy taking our van on throughout that area with a few exceptions.

Usually if it’s unsuitable, you get lots of notice and diversion routes. The one down from Gap to Grenoble for instance has a height and width barrier so only cars can physically get through.

Enjoy. ☺️

The D94 /D994 run well to the south of the balcony roads of the Vercors. You should be fine although it will be slow in motorhome but that area is dramatic. Enjoy.

Trouble with the bin lorry theory is
a) their drivers probably don't care quite so much about dings & scratches and
b) they come in different sizes so may not be as large as a wheelie bin might suggest

Err, “If I can see those four wheel refuse bins along a route……”

Usually something around the 7.5tonne mark dealing with them. ;)

Oh please let me know how you get on. We are in Avignon and contemplating the same trip!
We took the middle of those roads and it was lovely. Some dramatic views (though probably not as dramatic as some of the more hair raising roads I'm sure)

Nothing too challenging, a few squeezes but all in all an easy intro into driving a bus over a mountain.
