Do you Funsters travel with your TV connected to the mounting bracket or do you take them down and store them safely until parked/sited.
I tried it once in my old van but I thought it was going to shake apart so now i take it down and wrap it in a quilt.

Leave it on. The bracket weighs nearly as much as the van does and held in by bolts that I threadlocked, so it shouldn't be going anywhere in a hurry!

What about the TV. Can't do the insides much good rattling around 🤔

We haven't had any problems so far and that's on Polish roads which can be pretty bloody atrocious! If the road has been particularly bad, i'll check the mount screws, buit apart from that it stays up there. I just can't be bothered with messing around installing and un-installing it to be honest with you. We bought a moho specifically so we could stop, but the handbrake on and just be wherever we are, not to start mounting tv's or anything else ::bigsmile:

Thanks. I might give it another go. Like you say, it saves messing about 👍

I used to leave mine attached to the bracket with a couple of bungees to wind around the screen and attach it to the bracket to stop it swinging out. Kept it safe that way.

That would be a right palaver unbolting the TV every day then having to bolt it back up. Then you would have to tidy up all the cables I think there are 8 going to my TV.

I’ve got a quick release slide bracket on mine and take it off and store in a bag in wardrobe, I don’t fancy having TV moving about.

We leave ours in place and have done for the 8 years we've had the moho. No problems with the TV despite traveling all over Europe from North Cape to Black Sea, so not all the roads have been perfect smooth tarmac! Never gave it a thought that TV might suffer, so best not to worry.

I leave ours attached. arm bracket is rather stiff but appears to absorb any motion. Been that way since we got the van and probably since installed before that. It is a small JVC flatscreen and weight may be a factor to consider. Find what works for you

Ten or eleven years ago we had a TV fail after dropping a rear wheel into what must have been the mother of all potholes, concealed by a large puddle across the road, on the approach to Zahora. Very surprised nothing else fell off at the same time!

Our TV is always attached to a monitor arm in a cupboard , a bit like an anglepoise lamp. That takes most of any sudden shocks. Means also that I can face the TV forwards or backwards in the van when I want.

Disconnect a couple of cables from television; lift it off the bracket; put it to bed, under a quilt. Not willing to risk Mrs Despicable missing her Emmerdale Street and Coronation Farm, life is short enough as it is.

Our tv is 11 years old, & in its 4th van! We full timed for 3 of those years & have never taken it off its bracket! 📺

We have ours on a bracket stored in a cupboard. Before travelling we put it back in the cupboard with a cushion in front of the screen.

Solved that issue by removing the TV brackets. Don't have a TV in the van 😉.

I think you'll find that some Funsters have got rid of their motorhomes and kept their televisions :roflmto:

We left bracket mounted by the door as it's great to hang coats on. Don't need a telly as I can get it all on my laptop and the tablets, we connect a bluetooth soundbar which we also use for audible books.

Our first van had a free standing TV and that was a palaver, moving around, padding out, it would only have been a matter of time before it was dropped or knocked, since then permanently fixed on a secure bracket, and ready for use anytime.

As someone else said I can't imagine the palaver of dismounting the TV. With a good quality lockable bracket mounted securely nothing could be further from my mind. The less "faff" the better.

My OH folds up the bracket and TV against the side of the van and bungees it tightly in place. We're bikers and the use of bungees is always our first recourse for loose luggage.

We were advised when picking up the van to not leave it attached when driving. Dunno if it was a liability thing but we adhere to it. It’s a quick release mount and we keep the tv in a similar sized plastic box in the boot. It only takes 2 minutes to connect and tune and the power and aerial lead are left in place to speed things up further.

more worried of the thing falling off and taking half the wall with it rather than breaking the tv.

Surely it must depend in part on what the bracket fixes to? We have a tv in the bedroom which slots onto a qr plate attached to the washroom wall - I wouldn’t want to put more stress on the wall than needed. Easy to fit and remove - particularly after I got an adapter to change the F-type fitting for the aerial cable to a push-on coax. Maybe not as good a connection but works for us.
