I don’t know if anyone else has had similar experience?🤔
Here’s a copy of email I received this morning from Durrwang after asking for quote for spare part very frustrating but I suppose we will have to live with it?😊

Dear Alen,
Thank you for your message.
Sorry, but after the brexit, it`s to expencive and to much work (custom ect.) for us to send parts to UK.

Please go to a UK-dealer.
Or do you come the next time to germany ?

Kind Regards

We buy a few spare parts for tractors from Ukraine, and have had letters like that, it's more the carriers fault than the seller, small things that come through the normal post are ok but we have had stuff returned to sender by some carriers, I forget which one it is now but we can get stuff delivered by one of them but it costs a fair bit more.

Last week I picked up some spares from Campirama for another Hymer owner. They shipped them but the carrier returned them back to them.

It's pot luck some dealers can do it, easier if it's over £130 in Value.
Over £130 it is up to you the importer to pay any duty & vat but you also get clobbered for any customs agent charges.
Under £130 the supplier has to be registered with HMRC which costs them £1000 and they have to pay any duty & vat to HMRC.

Speve, Alan is it something any dealer will have in stock as I'm in France at the moment & I've found French dealers often as cheap as German ones for spares.

I recently bought bicycle parts from Italy with no problems at all, the value was less than £12.

Sounds like it's just not worth their while I can see why they're saying what they are. Looks like as they say it's either use a UK dealer or next time abroad call in. Makes you wonder if there's anyone going near who could collect it for you if it's worth it.

Does that include stuff from China

Thanks Lenny it’s a rear light cluster but I have ordered through Chris Davies he was best price and incl delivery😊 very kind of you to offer that’s what MHF is all about👍😊

Is it not better to use a UK dealer?
That’s been tried and I managed to get one from Chris Davies of Reliance motorhome services approved workshop near Chichester not dealer but ace at getting Hymer spares quicker than dealers😊

Hope you are enjoying your trip we got back Sunday from Scotland had a lovely time😊 except had an argument with garage wall on our return🙄

How much was it?
I bought one in Germany last October €130.
£286 inc delivery that’s the difference buyin over here and most I called had 5 to 6 week lead times Chris has got one in 3 so settled for that and he was £30 cheaper than the cheapest dealer😊

My Citroen C4 Picasso, 5 years old, has. It makes an intolerable noise if the door is opened while the engine is running.

The difference would almost pay for the trip over!

Brownhills were listing them on ebay £180.

When I cracked the rear light on my last van its the same light I waited until I was in France picked one up for €135.

Not if you considered the Covid tests etc and fuel? if I not of already committed I would certainly taken Lenny up on his offer although I expect prices have risen over there since he purchased his🤔

I have just had nearly 600 quids worth of spare parts from EU , though i didn't have any involvement with the importation . Parts came from both Hymer , and Fiat though Brownhills . Think it took about 6 weeks in total .
I've read a lot about this issue , but personally i've never had a problem . I am careful with what i order , in the main UK sourced , but on one occasion i have ordered parts , i believed were held in the UK , to be informed after ordering were actually in France . I prepared myself for problems , only to have them turn up a week later . and of course China no issues .

That’s just the problem you have to order through main dealers and pay their exorbitant prices we can no longer source EU spares independently🤔

Yep , i understand that , it's only recently i've been on the ordering band wagon . I've been doing some quite major work on my engines cooling system , timing , and right now power steering , on what is a 20 year old vehicle . The vast majority of this is purely down to lack of maintenance , but most parts have been sourced from inside the UK . However , some parts have come from as far away as Lithuania , Poland , and Italy . Others have proved impossible to source anywhere , even with the correct part numbers (i'm dealing with 3 such parts now) , and need going around . A couple despite what the parts list say , simply don't fit , one didn't even vaguely resemble what i had fitted . I finally had the van running last weekend for the first time since March last year , but i would add , to be honest i've probably still got another 9 months to go . I need custom parts for the steering , and the electrical system is still in bits , though very advanced , mostly with a custom media system fitment . There are other areas that need visiting , again through old age , but i'm working with the weather .

Thanks for the heads up .

Two of the pipes , i'm trying to source are listed , however though i'm waiting for confirmation , i suspect these may also be for a right hand drive vehicle , which though difficult to source are still available . My vehicle is a lefty , and hence these are not available . The third pipe i'm trying to source is not listed .
