Hi I have a Burstner van. This morning I am trying to fill the boiler but the blue valve next to the water tank won't stay shut. It's only 3 deg. Is this why and can this be over ridden?

Have you pressed a reset button just underneath the blue valve itself?

Yes, this is why it won't stay shut. It trips at around 4 degrees. You'll need to run your heating for a while, to warm the van, then as posted above, press the blue button, turn the switch and you'll be good to go

The blue mechanical valves dump at 3°c but need to be at 5 or 6°c to be able to reset them. Just turn the heating on for½ hour.

I also called the help desk. Truma seem very helpful. I needed to warm the van up. This sorted the problem.

If this happens often, Truma sell a Frost Control valve heater. It fits in the valve body and can be used to warm the the valve so you can shut it and fill with water.

I have a hair band wrapped around that red button to stop it popping and dropping the water.
Not had a problem in 3 years down to minus -17

Only a van equipment supplier could think of that!!

That is the old type very difficult to wedge the button in on the new type also the old ones were supposed to dump at 4° but would often dump at 6 or more. The new ones dump at 3° and appear to be a bit more reliable temperature wise.

i put one of those polystyrene outside tap covers over mine and put a piece of kingspan under the floor below it to insulate it better also extended the dump valve pipe and insulated it so the cold dosent get to the valve so easily , now only dumps at 0 degrees .
