Not sure what I am doing wrong . I noticed a small leak in the cold water elbow so I am trying to replace it . Fitted the new one but as soon as I turn the pump on it leaks again. Is there a special way of fitting these ?
Thank you

I maybe wrong but is the pipe coming out of the boiler straight, as in no bulge on the end, that what photo looks like.
That type of fitting needs the bulge to push against the ’o’ ring.
red is split collar.

It’s the same as the one I’ve removed . Can’t even turn the water on now as it’s leaking even with the new fitting . It must be something I am doing wrong

It looks to me that the split seal needs to expand when compressed to close the gap.
Maybe the rubber on rubber is causing some friction and preventing the split seal from closing up and forming a seal, maybe a little lubrication with some silicone grease on the parts is needed.

The split part doesn’t do any sealing it pushes over the bulge on the end of pipe and then pushes on the back of bulge

Okay, your drawing makes more sense now and the white split item is effectively a spring/tensioning device, is that correct ? which if it is then that seems a naff idea to me.

No , it’s so the nut has something to push-on. Nut hole has to be large enough to go over bulge and then split collar goes on to pipe for the nut to push-on

I’ve tried it loads of times but it still leaks so no running water in the van . All I can do is order another cold water elbow and try again . Weird to have the same problem with 2 different fittings . 😞

I might try gently heating the end of the pipe and putting back on with the original part with some lubricant over new seal and leave it to sit for a while to mould back into shape before retrying. Sometimes the seals etc just go out of shape or a new one takes a bit of time to ‘fit’, especially in cold weather.
Is the new part a new manufacturers part or a pattern part? I’ve used new replacement parts before which simply don’t fit as well as original manufacturer parts.
It sounds a bit like the sort of thing that happens to me and I’m pulling my hair out!
Good luck!

It’s crazy that I can’t do a basic replacement on this . I might have to get a plumber out 😂

What diameter is that input pipe into your boiler, as I'm thinking, if the pipe diameter is a standard diameter then do you forget the original fittings, cut the bulge off and go with either a John Guest push fit elbow fitting or maybe a compression to push fit fitting?

You definitely have a bulge on the pipe because in your photo it looks straight

There does appear to be a slight bulge at the end but maybe I have ordered the wrong one and the one there before was also wrong because they are exactly the same part .

Could be a possibility. I would probably ask a plumber to help with that .

If the pipe is flared at the end you would notice the gap growing in the collar as you slide it over it. To me it looks like a straight pipe. The fitting you would need for this, is similar to the black spigot elbow in your first pic, that is on the towel.

There must be a Truma part available for this I am guessing ?
