Has anyone bought one or seen one working. Reading the advert it sounds like a good idea, especially as it’s lightweight and can be used in the house as well as the MH.

Look very expensive to me for a small fan with a bit of wet sponge in it!!!! Also the evaprated water is going into the atmsphere must make it a bit damp. You can buy home ones for a lot less Broken Link Removed not the same thing as A/C

This?

You can buy a portable AC system for that money (not that they're very good).
You would be very disappointed in an evaporative cooler, it's just a fan and some water evaporating - very slowly.

Have a look on Amazon - seems you can very similar items for around £30, like this

Rivadal Portable Air Conditioner Fan Evaporative Air Circulator Cooler Humidifier

For some reason the link would not paste correctly, so you will need to look up the item on Amazon!!!

a bit of wet sponge
A bit of wet sponge Sir......a bit of wet sponge.

I'll have you know that the finest Honeycomb cooling media there is.... It says so in the diagram.
But yes, we call it a sponge

Evaporative coolers only work in a very low humidity environment.
We used large ones when living in Riyadh and they were very good , not only cooling the air but giving humidity too, they were called desert coolers, says it all in the name.
I've tried one here at home and it's useless.

Here in Mexico they are called swamp coolers. We use two large ones to cool our 120 seat community theatre. They are mounted outside and are centrally ducted. They have constant waterflow (recirculated) over the cooling medium. At the time of year when we need them, humidity is low so they do an excellent job. Capital and running costs significantly lower than air conditioners. But for a motorhome, I'd guess there are better systems than evaporative coolers.
