Hi

Does anyone know where I can source the torsion spring for a 2004 Hymer habitation door lock.
Its a small spring at about 135 degress and pushes the locking mechanism up and down and holds it in position.

See pictures below.

To find a replacement you'll need a few measurements using callipers. Wire gauge, coil direction, inside and outside diameter of coil, length of legs etc.
You could try a company like springmasters.com

I gave up and bought an assortment of coil springs (tension) off ebay, fairly easy to make the latches spring back and plenty of spares but above all CHEAP.

I bought on that looked similar to that from Travelworld, Hymer dealer, a bit expensive at £13 but it worked.
I will look out the part number later.

Our toilet door handle spring broke a couple of years ago, it's a common Elddis problem?. I ended up making a new one from a light duty 1/2" pipe bending spring. Been ok since ?

Helped a friend with a Hymer the other day. The habitation door would lock if slammed. We thought it might be the strength of this spring causing the fault but it turned out to be the lock mechanism that was over shooting and pushing the lock rod. A few adjustments cured it.
