Been having real problems with the Tom Tom recently when applying the new maps I just paid for....

Now decided to format the whole thing and start from scratch with a clean disc.

So far so good.

Tom Tom support has been very good and quick to respond so far.

Just reloading now.:thumb:

I went through this procedure recently with my ancient TomTom One. You probably did this already but I was told I had to upgrade the operating system to the latest edition before loading the new map. You can of course do this for free via the TomTom PC software.

Right....

Totally formatted the Tom Tom device after backing up all the data first. Then reloaded the latest Operating System again and the USA and Western Europe Latest maps.

She's working great now.

Very impressed with the help I have received from Tom Tom support and really chuffed it's all back to normal now.

Just had to find the courage to format the whole thing first as I wasn't sure I'd be able to restore the maps and their activation licences.

Had to bite the bullet in the end as it was pretty inoperable.

Must have been some serious corruption of data on the unit.Tried all sorts of things prior to taking this step.... as you do.

Formatting certainly sorted it.:Cool::thumb:

Steve.

Certainly was John.

I really wasn't sure whether it was possible to delete ALL the data from the unit and restore.

Just goes to show. It's always worth asking.:thumb:

Me...I'm chuffed it's sorted.

Hope you're having a cracking weekend:BigGrin:

Now that you have it sorted Make a new backup copy:thumb:

regards

All ready done it.:thumb:

To 2 usb devices and the HDD of the pc.

Belts and Braces...:BigGrin:Got the maps on dvds as well.

The annoying thing was...when I restored the backups known to be good before, they were ok UNTIL I upgraded the Western Europe Map.

It worked ok on the 2 year old ones from the original backup made some time ago.

Began to think the old Tom Tom had compatibility issues with the later software/Operating system.

Nice one. It took ages to sort mine and its a good feeling when you eventually crack it. Have to agree. TomTom support are quite good. Considering mine was 5 years old I was supprised they would even talk to me.

I bought Western Europe maps last year and had to format the system as the memory wouldn`t accept the download its fine now, sometimes :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Western Europe maps did mine in....Not a memory issue though....It did not install over the previous one and caused corruption.

Brill now though.:thumb:
