I would like to know the balance remaining on a Three Data SIM card, that I use in a HUAWEI MiFi

I have the HUAWEI HiLink running on a tablet, but it says 0% and 0Mb, and when I tap the figure it comes up with a data limit of about 1Mb, (I think this is the download speed) and Monthly Data Plan of 0Mb

So I have added the Three app, to allow me to set up and login to a My 3 account. But this looks as though it needs to be setup for each new SIM

Am I missing something?

Try putting the sim in your phone then open the 3 app.
It will hopefully show your balance and your plan....but you must use your phones internet connection, it doesn't work using wifi connections.

Thanks. Cannot put SIM in phone, wrong size, but link sorted the answer

Funnily enough I have a 12 gigabyte 12 month sim which I put in my netgear mifi in September, it resets each month and I have no way of knowing how much data is left, I would have thought it would give a running total but the software only seems able to cope with a month at a time, I was fairly sure that I had only used about 6 gb as I only use the mifi when in the van, so I logged on to three to see if I could find out how much is left (I previously had a sim which I kept recharging) shortly after logging on and not finding any info about the 12 month sim, I received the message "you have used up all your data" a bit weird, anybody know how to get a proper check on the sim? I think @Minxy Girl is the forums 3 guru, is it possible 3 have confused my old sim with the new, as I have not registered the 12gb one and have stopped it working?? Any thoughts anyone?

Put what ever sim you want to check into your mifi and using @Munchie 's link and all will be revealed for that sim. No confusion will happen. :)

Basically what Mike said:

I don't worry to much about the balance I just wait till it stops working and then put in another as we carry a couple of spares but it's easy to check using the links others have given currently the sing on a Scandinavian tour and working well.

Terribly sorry but you all appear to be wrong, the point of buying the 12gb, 1 year and 24gb 2 year sims is so that I can just dump them when the allowance is up, nothing comes up and you can't check data on the link you mention, I am therefore assuming you would have to register the sim to check this! And even then it would only show the current month! You do not have to do this when using say a nos sim in Portugal. Any further ideas?

Actually the above not quite right it says I've run out of credit my point was how can I check this as per my original post?

Don't think it's that and I'm not even sure I can do what I'm trying to to, I'll recap

I have a 1 year, 12gb sim, I tried to check what allowance was left on the above link, it showed 1.65gb which is the current month, it does not show total or previous monthly usage I thought I had several gb left, it ran out shortly after checking it on 3, just think that's odd that's all, of course I might have used all the allowance but I don't think I did, it seems there is no way to check previous use on a sim that lasts more than a month. Is this correct?

Terribly sorry but your wrong. It is possible that the link is inaccurate, but provide you log onto the three site with the sim then the balance can be checked without registering. Regretfully at the moment I am at home and not logged on that way, so can't check the link. However, whilst away, I have checked the balance many times without registering anything. Someone will sort it for you.

I'm using the Hauwei Hi-ink, and it works for me, regardless of whatever MiFi I am using, ie, it's currently telling me that my 3 Sim has used up 1.17Gb of the 12Gb available. (y)
I rarely use the Three website dashboard.

If using my other MiFi with my T Mobile/EE sim in it, I get the reading corresponding to that card. (y)

HTH,

Jock. :)

You are all right, but please read what I'm saying, I go to the link it tells me I've used all my data, previously it would ONLY tell me the data used for the month in hand, I go to my netgear software it won't connect because three says I've used my data, I don't think I have but there is no way of checking previous months on a sim that lasts more than a month, even if it has GB left on it.

So for all you people with a three mifi sim, like Jock who has used 1.17Gb of his 12Gb THIS month, how can he check the historical data when it resets each month?

Again I say, I don't think I used the 12Gb but I can't check this!!

Hi @dabhand ,
I have had exactly the same problem, just got it sorted.
Apparently you have to in to your My3 a/c , & put in the new sim number , replacing your original number then put in your password ,this I couldn't do , so I asked for new password code which they forwarded to my phone , then set up new password , & with new simno & new password ( hey Presto it works )
Hope it works for you
Terry

I have used several different 3 PAYG data sims over the last couple of years and whenever I have logged onto 'my3' it automatically knows the sim that I am using and will give me the data useage for that sim.

Have you tried 3s 'live chat' service.

Easiest and most reliable way to sort it.
No but I will :giggle:

Only if it's registered which I think!

The balance for the month or the amount remaining if you have had it for more than a month that is my problem, I want to know what's remaining of a more than one month sim, this ( for me) it does not do!

Go on live chat with My3, That's how I did it, then the way I explained.

I did register one sim a long while ago but have never had to input the number of another sim since, it automatically knows the sim that I am using. My computer logs me in automatically when i go to the my 3 website.

I thought that for the last 2sims , but it wouldn't work on this new one. allsorted after live chat

I use a Huawei Mifi and, if I tell it in the settings, it will just keep a running total of the amount of data used on each SIM. When I put a new SIM in I can go into the settings and zero the account so it starts again. It is not absolutely accurate though. According to it I got 13Gb out of my 12Gb SIM before Three told me that I had run out of data.

Not sure what Mifi you have Simon but you could try looking in its settings and see if you can do the same as me.

The problem I had is cos three said I'd run out of data the netgear app will not recognise the sim!

I suspect it will only work for your next SIM, not the one that 3 says has run out. Having said that my Mifi still recognised the SIM, but just could not get any data out of it because 3 had blocked it.

Simon, are you sure that there are no buses near you with drivers on the porn sites?:D

The Huawei app isn't interested in your SIM card. It simply measures the amount of data that passes through the mifi. You could swap several SIM cards in & out during the month & it would still keep counting. It's aimed at people with a monthly contract with a monthly data limit.

To find out how much data is left on a card - any card, PAYG, contract, 12 or 24 month card, you have to ask Three. For various reasons, all the SIM cards I have or have had have been registered, so I can't speak for unregistered cards. But when I log into MyThree, I put in the phone number (even for a data card) associated with the card & the password for that account. It then tells me how much data is left & when it will expire if not used first.

Three allow you to connect to their site even when you have used all the data on a particular card.

It doesn't matter how you connect to Three's site. I can log in over my landline broadband & check any of my cards to see what data is left.

Newer cards have a 200MB per month free allowance, which is very useful if you have a card you want to hang onto & just use occasionally. The old cards were impossible to top up on line once out of data, because although Three let you connect to them & buy a top-up, when you tried to pay for it, they would trigger the 'Verified by Visa' or whatever for your particular card, which now tried to connect to a site outside Three. No data allowance yet - so blocked! You had to connect another way (or call them) to do the top up before being able to use it again.

Not an issue if you just keep buying new cards.
