Hi guys

We are considering following our blessed leader and switching from eurobox to RV. However, we are new to the American scene and grateful for advice.

We love the layout, and the space when the slides are out. Would want LPG conversion. We have an Elegance so the length is similar. We like the 30.1 version.
But what about insulation, reliability of engine and electrics. And all the other things we haven't even considered.

It is under 7.5 ton and apparently a payload of 1.5 ton minus the LPG conversion.

Thanks in anticipation.

We've owned 3 RVs and enjoyed them.
Reliability no problem built like a tank and simple engineering.
Electrics the same.
Insulation thats where RVs fall down for us certainly nowhere near the same as any half decent German van. All 3 of ours let in water around front and rear caps and bled heat through thin walls and especially slide seals.
Having said that the space is great and generally RVs are super reliable and spares are easily available.
Just drive one first because although the length may be similar the width certainly isn't and thats what gets you into trouble.

There are a few Thor ACE on RVOC so worth trying again. not sure why you cannot register

If you are buying from Signature they may have the spec changed slightly for UK supply, but the chassis and engine are bullet proof, all the components fridge/freezer, microwave, etc are standard for most RVs so no problems there.

It is built on an 8.1t chassis and so downplating to 7.5t will loose 600kg payload on a standard build ACE.
Interesting that the "dry" weight of the RV is 6t, to give you a 1.5t payload. Do not underestimate the weight of an LPG concession with two large tanks full of liquid gas.

Not sure if you tow, but on a std C1 licence with restriction 107 ( grandfather rights) you will only allowed to tow 750kg to max train weight of 8. 250t. Indeed even if there is any towing capability, some RVs do not have a GCWR on the rating plate
