Bontara park is on the radar for Jan Feb leaving December 29th via euro tunnel taking about 4 days to get there

Plan on hitting toll roads via Barcelona etc.

Have a couple of questions maybe folk might like to help with. I did go down there in September same route and stayed along the coast for about 6 weeks but had to come back early

Route assuming using tolls and getting there quickest route it looks like route planners like a slightly more direct route but over Pyrenees if so what route is that with winter as an issue

Leaving in December I guess I will need

Driving permits

Green card

Medical insurance

Anything else taking into account we are out the EU next month

Cheers

GB

Check medical insurance as a lot don’t cover none essential travel countries

I have trouble as I’m over 70 and only get 35 days

Im 60 and they give me 60 days or 100 once a year
Obviously new rules change things a bit next year anyway

ok ill have a look at that

last time it was about 200 euros in tolls one way

Don’t forget the query whether once we’ve left the EU you’ll be admitted into France or possibly Spain for non- essential purposes so long as Covid rates remain high. There’s a whole thread on this, and as of yesterday:
“Please be advised that current epidemiological situation does not allow the UK to be included today in Annex I of the Council Recommendation on the temporary restriction on nonessential travel into the EU and the possible lifting of such restriction”.

Decision apparently to be reviewed on 31 Dec.

30 & 35 days best I’ve find for seventies

I take it you referring to travel insurance.
Our Lloyd's bank account covers us for 45 days up to age 80 and you can pay to extend it.

You don't need an IDP for France they announced it a few weeks ago.

Can I just give you a little it about Benicassim itself.

Although it's a damn sight better than the UK overall, it can get cold should you get a day or two without Sun.
We keep a record of when, where etc. and have done since 2008.

I note that whenever the Sun has failed to make an appearance, it got as high??? as 8 degs on some days.

Lovely as Bonterra Park is, (and Benicassim itself) we wouldn't, out of choice, choose somewhere so far North to stay in Jan Feb. From memory, the campsite employees called me El Loco because, even on the chilly days, I still wore shorts. It's a Northern thing.

There are some massive changes to travel insurance cover from Nationwide on 1st January 2021 that need to be studied very carefully. Massive get out clauses

I get 90 days with Nationwide,,,Have to pay extra..BUSBY.
Yes, that's what I had to do last year, was still fairly good value though.

Oh very jealous as we have postponed our winter jaunt at the moment. We're not brave enough to take the chance Post Brexit, post Covid. We usually travel down the A71 and A75 which is toll free.Millau bridge then Montpellier and Perpingon into Spain. No need to go through the Pyrenees and it's a major route that is kept open should there be snow. Certainly last year there were some all year campsites en route.
We love Benicassim even though it's not as warm as further South it will be warmer than here. Let us know how you get on.

You may not get covid cover if you started Insurance with Nationwide now but for existing policyholders who had cover before.... 15th July??? (don't shoot the messenger if I'm not bang on) then they are covered.

They are only covered for holiday cancellations there is no cover when you catch covid.

Any country will treat you but you will have to pay. That’s what travel insurance was for to pay the bill. So if you have plenty of money no problem.

As you have travel insurance through your FlexAccount or FlexPlus current account, we want you to be aware that for any new trips booked on or after 18th March 2020, you won’t be covered for events caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Insurance is there to help with unknown or unforeseeable events. As Coronavirus is now a known event, U K Insurance Limited, our insurance provider, has confirmed cover will not be available for this.

If you booked a trip before 18th March 2020, cover is available for claims relating to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This is interesting, but as I read it it only applies to Brittany Ferry Holidays....... not for travel abroad just using a ferry.
