Quite a while.....though not long enough
Think we need a good, Motorhome Auto Electrician.

Any recommendations for one in or around the North West?

We inadvertently overloaded the Inverter. Which blew the 2x 20a fuses on the Inverter, which I replaced thinking that would be it. But it isn't.

Now the Inverter runs regardless of if the CBE Panel master switch for the Inverter is switched on or off.

It gets more complicated though, as the Inverter should also automatically switch on to operate the electric front windscreen blind, and switches itself off when another power source is selected such as Electric Hook Up or if the onboard Dometic Generator is fired up.

I suppose the best case scenario is that it has fried the workings inside the Inverter that operate the remote connection.

Headaches!!!

It could be the relay which works the auto change-over has fried as this will have a specific amp rating and if you have overloaded the inverter you will have overloaded the relay. I’d be checking that first.

For starters.... I would disconnect the "Inverter" from the 12v system..

Just as a precautionary measure in case of over heating and fire risk..

Mind you... I know nothing about electrics.. :frowny:

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

I was thinking along the same lines yesterday, but couldn't easily locate a relay anywhere within the immediately accessible areas. However, I was looking for a standard 12v type relay, and I'm unsure if Concorde use something that I wouldn't instantly recognize as a relay.

What make is your inverter? If Victron or Mastervolt then it maybe a Inverter/Charger which also acts as a UPS, which means no need for a separate ‘changeover’ relay.

The relay may not be in an obvious place but would have thought it would be somewhere near the 230v consumer unit.

Just a quick update to say that the silliest, oldest farts in all this appears to be ourselves.

Turns out that there was nothing wrong after replacing the 2 fuses, the Inverter just started when switched on, and wouldn't switch off at the remote.

We didn't know it had to be set in the OFF position to work remotely. IDIOTS, lol

Glad it's sorted. For future reference, try Phil at Rhino Installs, Bamber Bridge. Top man
