We have a 2001 Hymer B544 fitted with a Thetford C3 cassette toilet. It was working normally until a couple of weeks ago : To use the toilet we would turn the flush knob anticlockwise to open the blade, do what ever has to be done, press the flush button to flush the bowl and finally turn the flush knob clockwise to close the blade. Now we are finding that the bowl can only be flushed when the flush knob has been turned clockwise and the blade in the closed position. The water pump motor (which also feeds the hot and cold taps) is working ok but only when the blade is closed instead of open as previously. We can put up with this situation if the remedy is going to be awkward or costly but I am curious to know what caused the problem?

Not familiar with the C3 but it sounds like there is a switch that operates to stop it from flushing when the blade is closed. The solenoid has come loose or moved out of position, should be an easy fix. If you can't get at it with the cassette out you will need to remove the toilet normally an easy job. You need to trace the wires back from the solenoid.
