The rain in Spain (1 Viewer)

Hello, we hear from friends on site in Spain that there has been a lot of flooding recently.
As we are heading south after Christmas I wondered if anyone is there who could give an update on the coastal sites.

It's an annual event and can effect just certain areas, there was a big warning for the Benidorm area but it missed there and hit elsewhere. So no great panic, the locals are used to it and prepared.

The sun is up here in Beni, after our first cool morning of the season 12°C.
The winter weather in Southern Spain can vary a lot and some storms do cause damage. They tend to be very localized so paying attention to the local weather sites is good. Here in Beni we know when were in for a good bit of rain because they start moving the vans from the bottom of Camping La Torreta which floods.

We are not on Torreta, we are behind it up the slight but advantageous hill on Villasol. Look on google earth you will see the location of all the sites in Beni.

We've lived here just over 13 years. It's an annual occurrence - when it really rains here it really rains and localised flooding happens, with some flash floods washing vehicles away etc. But these extreme events are normally well flagged up in advance by AEMET (the Spanish Met Office) and as long as you exercise a bit of common sense and don't do anything daft like overnighting in a dry river bed you should be fine. That said, the week before last we stayed one night in the car park at Estepona marina, and last weekend it flooded in a thunder storm!

We are in the Sierra Nevada and it's 9° today cloudy and rain.. Everyone in thick coats .We were in t shirts yesterday but have our long trousers today.
