The past few days have been rather painful regarding LPG

Picked up my van from being serviced at our dealer in Doncaster to discover my LPG tank was empty (they must have had the heating on)

As we’re going away in a week or two I decided it would be sensible to buy some before setting off

Sadly all the regular filling stations between Doncaster and home in Sussex were empty.

We have a place locally (about 15 miles away) so decided to make a special trip there yesterday. I took the precaution to call before leaving, to discover they had gas at 99.9p per litre- yay !

After a half hour drive I was just about to begin filling when the forecourt attendant ran out and informed me they were closed as their payment system had just crashed and it was likely to take a couple of hours to repair - doh, an hour round trip wasted !!!!

Thought I’d try again this morning, so called to confirm availability. Yay, they still have some !

Imagine how I felt as I approached the garage to see the forecourt taped off.
Apparently their payment system had just crashed again - another 1 hour drive wasted.

Decided to try again this afternoon

Third time lucky !

Taking our diesel into account it must have been the most expensive tank of LPG in the country.

Now thinking I might invest in a couple of Calor bottle in case of emergencies.

Only reason they have LPG is probably because they can't sell it. Regardless of price most apps now suggest that LPG now has complete scarcity. There was me thinking that last year was bad for getting LPG in the South East, but now it is clearly non existent.

Was it BP? That keeps happening at my local BP garage but when I had a little rant about it a guy said that it had happened to a Shell garage down the road as well but I don’t know if that was true.

I don't feel so bad now paying 0.95p in Chesterfield yesterday

Can someone tell me how many ltr are in a 47 kg gas bottle?

There’s still plenty of places selling LPG but there has definitely been some supply problems.
You can’t get Calor cylinders at the moment either in a lot of places ⚠️

You're out a bit there, the consensus is between 6 and 12 months before there is any serious degrading. (y)

Until last year, I had a 1984 T25 VW Diesel Camper on Sorn for 4yrs and once a month I used to start it and give it a 30min run around the farm. It started first time every time even after 4yrs, 'IF ONLY EVERTHING WAS AS RELIABLE AS A VOLKSWAGON' as the adverts used to say!

When I sold it, the man drove it away on diesel that was nearly 5yrs old.

At least you can Bulk store LPG as long as the vessel will last. You can only store diesel for 6 months.
Not sure that’s true , we’re using diesel that’s over 2 years old ! We do occasionally put some diesel bug in the1000l storage tank but haven't for a few years now ! Now petrol that’s a different story.

What 1000 L tank that’s a big Moho.🚐🤣🤣

Just seen LPG in Newcastle at £1.06 😳

Quite a few on the Autogas app showing 105p-110p, still cheaper than bottles though?

Why could he not have just let you fill, give him the few quid cash and let him put it into the system when back up?

People get mesmorised with computer systems.

A 47 kg is £59 where we live so 92 Ltd = 63pence per litre just got to find a safe way to transfer it to our refillable bottles 🙂

I have told this many times so excuse me if you have heard it?

About 10yrs ago, I walked into a Newsagents and bought my usual paper, took it to the till and handed over the exact money.

"Sorry," the girl said, "we have a power cut and the tills not working so I can't sell you the paper", so I said, "There's 50 more there, just take the money and scan one of those when the power returns" "sorry" she said "I'm not allowed to do that"

I retrieved my money and, as I was about to leave, asked, "as you cannot sell anything, why not just lock the door, and have a cuppa" said I,
"I'm not allowed to do that" said she.

Oh I wish I had compliant staff like that! (probably just a little less stupid?)

I put this on another thread but here it is again. Today I paid £1.779 / L. At a Coop filling station Isle of Skye, Broadford New. £24.23 for 13L! I questioned the price and was told it was correct. Im hoping this is a mistake still. The price on MyLPG dated 21/4 is showing 75.9p.

I would have put down the right money and walked out with the paper.

You have paid and you do not have to abide by their company rules.
