The toll starts just after the first slip road for Castro Marim so you either stop in the laybye just over the bridge and register or carry on and come off for Castro Marim and then go into Vila Real De Santos and onto the 125

Thanks for the info , CM is j18(y)(y)

Toll starts after 2nd exit junction 17 so missing out Castro Marim and Vila Real.

Ok a question!

You come onto the toll road and register your card for a month! Then you stay at a site for say 6 weeks!
How the hell do you pay when rejoining the toll to continue on your journey???

I don't know for sure Ken as I don't use the toll roads in my van, but as I understand it, once your card is linked to your number plate you just use the (electronic) toll roads and carry on...

Deductions are made automatically...

This........http://www.portugaltolls.pt/en/web/portal-de-portagens/home

Then ' how to pay'.........http://www.portugaltolls.pt/en/web/portal-de-portagens/home

Then under 'Tollcard' is BUY HERE and that brings up........http://www.tollcard.pt/fetcwcm/wcmservlet/en/home/index.html

Click on 'buy on line' and get..........http://www.tollcard.pt/fetcwcm/wcmservlet/en/home/index.html

choice of 5,10,20 or 40 euros valid for a year, if bought online activation is automatic and can be topped up at any time.

OR queue for ages in a Correos pay in cash (won't accept UK cards) for a tollcard, activate by phone and Bob's your Uncle .

PS it may be possible to simply use the last link directly simplifying the process no end.

We freeloaders are minding our own business, calmly chatting about the world whilst relaxing in the sun, when the peace is shattered by some advertising stunt...

A big, happy, powerful looking man is going around to everyone telling them to come and visit his place...

These bloody "Go Getters" !

We did that last year, registered then 7 weeks later headed back down the motorway expecting them to just take it off the card, nothing taken !! we are heading back this January and are wondering what will happen if we register again.

You don't have to pay as you enter Portugal from Spain if you dont - or cannot - register your card, you can pay at the service station, they take your registration number and you buy for the journey you are making. In 6 weeks time you would just do the same, first service station.

Hope that helps (y)
