Just got back from a 4 week trip to Spain. Had originally planned to do Amsterdam for Christmas but couldn't face the cold so headed for Barcelona instead. A quick search on here and found @DBK and others recommending the Vilanova site - would never have gone there if it wasn't for your recommendation. Looked to be miles from Barcelona and even the local town, but the buses stopping right outside the campsite were brilliant, the site and facilities excellent (the showers were sometimes even too hot for me, which is a Rare Thing!).
We went for a week and ended up staying for three - so many thanks to all for making our Christmas :)

It is a nice site, loved my pitch backed in between loads of trees. I've only been in the winter but can imagine it being a thrive of activity in the summer months.

It's the Vilanova Park at Vilanova i la Geltrú. Not by the beach, but only a 10 min bus ride to town and beach. Think it might be by the motorway, or at least a decent dual carriageway. It is a very large site, but well set out and good facilities.
Also right by a wood/saw mill site and a lovely smell of freshly cut wood as you go up the hill to the site and on some pitches (but no noise nuisance while we were there (y)).
