I bought this to go with my 955 router yesterday.

Amazon product ASIN B07HSYP97L
Came with no instructions but I'm guessing I drill a hole in the roof, screw it down and seal etc etc.

The central screwy on bit is only 25mm long. My van has 43mm thick roof and walls.......

Does anyone know if I can purchase an extender for this or will I need to fix it to a plate raised off the roof?

If its crap, I will send back and figure something else out!!!

Many thanks

Paul

Is the Teltonika okay without a metal roof for a ground plane ?
I would answer if I knew what you said!!!

I have clearly failed at English today.......

Are you saying that just use the thing not roof mounted? ie just ram it in the van?

Ask Teltonika, they respond quickly in my experience. I suspect you can just mount it on the roof but if your roof is fibreglass it may need a separate ground plane but only Teltonika can give you a definitive answer.

My concern with it is whether it is designed for the frequencies used in Europe, including the UK. You could ask them about that too. At a glance it seems to, as it covers a wide spread but it depends on what the gain is at the specific frequency coming from the local transmitter.

The roof mounted antenna is the most critical element and within a given budget having the best antenna is key and you can save a bit of money by pairing a good antenna with a MiFi. :)

Some antennas require being fitted to a metal surface which acts as a ground plane and as your roof is GRP, you would have to have a metal plate on the roof to mount your antenna onto to get a decent signal.

Ahh, got you. I'm positive my roof is metal and basically a 43mm aluminium and filler sandwich.

I have emailed the company. Hopefully they can assist. Don't understand why the mounting screw thing is only 25mm is all.

Its got a 3m sticky thing on it... should i just silkaflex the buggery out of it? and which version? I have 522 and also puraflex 40

The 3M should be ample, but a would be inclined to run a bead of Sikaflex around the bottom edge as well.

I'm trying to find an extension bolt/nut that will screw onto the aerial so I can then tighten on to roof. why doesn't anyone do a m27 sleeve with an internal m27 thread and an outer thread I can then fire another bolt and washer onto? !!!
