Taking the motorhome to Belgium without hubby!

Hi All
We are in our second year of owning a motorhome and I want to go to a dog show in Ghent, Belgium in May. Ray is working so can't come, so I will be driving it. My friend will be coming with me as well as our dogs. Is there anything I need to know or do. Dogs are passported and I know what is what with them. Currenlty looking for a campsite to stay on not too far from the Flanders Expo as that is where the dog show is. TIA Linda

We had stayed there before and it's quite good. The areas are divided into smaller group areas divided by Hedges, great facilities.

Actually, I think all women could do those jobs, they just choose not to, so us blokes get the job

You’re absolutely right. My aim is to learn how to do all the jobs OH does this year so I can travel independently. Now just need some less wild weather so we can get out in the van! ?

My friend will navigate and make sure i stay on the correct side of the road and, we will use the toilets on site etc, but i don't have a problem emptying the toilet cassette, i have done it before. Obviously if Ray was with me, he would empty it. But i wouldn't let him navigate lol God knows where we would end up!!

They will get their Male partners to open them before they leave and will put everything into little tuperware boxes...

Some of us travel on our own and manage quite nicely thank you.

When you are widowed and in your late 70’s it can be great fun.The only thing I really had to get was a Toll Tag for France as my spaniel isn’t able to reach out and get a ticket.

I always remove the spiders anyway lol Its things like slugs and snails i don't like. Spiders are no problem

Just discovered this thread as the adventurous part of me is desperate to take the mh across the channel in February. Years ago I went to Ghent to see the worlds largest hanging basket ..I am thinking of a short loop from Calais....I wonder if the original poster went on her own minus hubby!?!

Who will open the jars?

Make sure that you have the dogs in a harness and anchored to a seat belt anchor. We had one installed between the two front seats for a solar beagle who happily sits/lays there. Got the seat belt anchor strap from Pets@Home
