Rally Swaffham Bash 2026

We can only echo what has been said......but can someone quieten the corvids! We were not in best party mode due to hayfever and left early before the pollen started rising. Thanks for the rally

Well done John for organising another successful event. Those girls prepared a dinner that would put some restaurants to shame (y)
Thanks to those providing the entertainment.
Shame Dawn B had to leave early due to Mike's breathing problems. Hope those that bought her famed fudge enjoyed it.

Oh yes Owen, L' Hobo I noticed you went off early and forget to pay me the £500 you borrowed!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Another one done and dusted.... This is my 25th year
:) AANNNDDDD.. It is time for a BIG shake up.. but more of that later

Massive thanks to :-

Each and every one of you allo for coming.. It is just as much you guys as anyone else that makes Swaffham so bloody good

Big thanks to all the marshals who did a sterling job in weather that made thermometers wilt !!

More large thank you's also going out to all the musicians who kept us all entertained so well

To Meanders for the quiz, and Meanders and Hilda for the bingo

To Molly, Kate, Big Kate, and Zoe for the EXCELLENT Sunday roast !!

Last but largest personal thanks must go to all the family, without whom I could NEVER cope !!

And so to what we raised

Considering van numbers were down by a massive 50% , it shows just how generous you Funsters are when I tell you we STILL managed to raise £1535.50 ( so far )
You are ALL a credit not only to your selves, but to Motorhome Fun and the human race in general :-)

THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL !

NEXT YEAR ITS ALL CHANGE

As mentioned above, the Bash is now 25 years old... and as much as folk have enjoyed it, it is time for a massive shake up

Next year there will be no auction, and the ped racing has had its day.. the machines are all getting really old and are now ( like me :-) ) just tired and worn out

So what we gonna do instead ?

Itinerary for next year

Thursday

Arrive and chill

Friday

Hopefully we will have the choir again in the afternoon
Fish and chips ( if wanted )
Quiz night followed by a bingo session then music

Saturday
Motorbike ride out in the morning
In the evening music music music with a short break to draw the raffle
Please help us with a raffle prize.. but raffle prize donations should be either a bottle of booze ( anything is fine :-) ) OR something with a value of about a tenner ( cheeky I know but it was suggested by several folk I asked )

Raffle tickets will be available from Thursday on :-)

Sunday

Instead of the ped racing something EVERY ONE can have a go at !!
Mobility scooter obstacle course !!
Might be a team event .. depends how many want to have a go :-)
You can either use one of mine or use your own
Obstacles will be set up so scoots will NOT risk damage

Sunday roast

Live music and waffle from me :-)

Monday

Pack up, say so long's and have a SAFE onward journey :-)

Now the sting in the tail

I have kept ticket costs to £17.50 a head for the past 15 years despite massive venue cost increase ( Thetford used to be £400 to £600,. Swaffham is £1200 )
Next year the ticket cost is going up to £27.50 to replace the lolly lost by ditching the auction
So for a couple that is £55, which I think is still a bargain for a 5 day event

I am keeping the ' per person' pricing to maintain fairness for solo travellers

And that about it I think ?
Comments and suggestion will be most welcome

John Jaws thats still bloody cheap @£55 for all that fun and frivolity the obstacle course sounds like a good giggle although a couple of this years ped riders I think were trying an obstacle course of their own

All sounds really good John, and understandable.
Thanks for all the hard work you and your family have put in over the years.

That sounds amazing John, a change is as good as a rest (apparently 😬) and that sounds like a good plan.

Thank you and all your helpers for their efforts this year once again, it is truly one of the best meets.

Is it cheeky to suggest for the raffle that people only put in what you genuinely wouldn’t mind taking home again? ☺️ Not to cast aspersions 😜

Personally, as a solo traveller, thankyou for keeping the 'per person's policy and can I suggest that instead of messing about with 50p's, why not put the Solo price up to £30 (I think I can afford £6 per night for a good cause.) and £55 for a double?

As for the raffle, perhaps a Chinese Auction instead. Adds a bit of competition + the chance that one might take the prize home that you contributed .🤔

I don't think anyone will have an issue with the pricing.

It could be closer to Wales. But it wouldn't be in Norfolk then
Thanks again to all the 'workers' it was great.
As always Jaws and family plus helpers know how to.put on a party

Thank you for not selling me loads of treasures but taking a donation. It saves me bringing it back.Next near ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

A very belated thank you to John Jaws for the great rally, F&C supper and Sunday Roast lunch. Thanks for all the hard work you and your family put into making it the success it was.

I shall make every attempt to be there again next year, and I agree with all the other comments, as respects the increased cost and other changes for next year.

My journey back to west Cornwall was very warm, but surprisingly, the traffic was not too bad apart from around the Birmingham and Bristol areas. Due to the elevated temperatures, I stopped more frequently than usual to make sure Bracken was OK, but as I had put her "wet coat" on her, she appeared to be far more comfortable than I was, even though I had the air con on for most of the time.

I note the 'racing peds' have now had their day, so I am pleased to have had a go (not too successfully) as they performed their final death throes.

It was great to meet up with several Funsters I have known for several years but who I haven't seen for some time, and also to have met and spent quality time with many others over the weekend. Thank you all.

Finally, hearing Darrell is all clear, is the icing on the top of the cake!

UPDATE

This evening I received a £100 donation from a member to add to the pot
I am not sure he would want to be named but he was at the Bash#
Total is now £1635.50

Good Afternoon All,

Today I posted off a cheque in the Sum of £36 to Prostate Cancer UK
as a result of selling Books at Swaffham.

As usual, I will post up the letter from PCUK acknowledging the money when I receive it.

Air ambulance collected the money yesterday.. And I cocked up

I gave them £100 short but I will be sorting the error out today

And duly sorted

Good afternoon John,

Following our telephone conversation a short time ago, I can confirm that you have paid by card an additional £100 donation to be added to the total amount that you had presented by cheque presentation to our Community Fundraiser, Lauren Banks.

I have added a note to your record to flag up this amount, so that we can then process a thank you acknowledgement and certificate for the full amount for you.

Thank you again for your sterling support for EAAA through having this fundraising event!

Kind Regards,

Barbara

A BIG, BIG, BIG belated thank you to John and his family, all the marshals, the musicians and everyone else that made the Bash so good this year. We thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Looking forward to next year already, can't wait and don't worry John, the increase in price won't deter anyone, it's such a great event.
