Sorry about the orientation!

I would have thought a pretty common opinion. We always make a point of saying we are in a MH when spending in shops wherever we go it would help a lot if everyone did. The leaving waste bit is harder I suspect it will sometimes be motorhomes other times stuff left by others then a MH parks there and gets the blame.

It’s the human waste and litter thing I simply cannot understand. Seriously, who could possibly think that it’s OK to leave waste in beauty spots or anywhere else, especially when the prime reasons for visiting in the first place are concerned with the beauty, peace and unspoiled remoteness.

Of course, part of the upcoming problem will be the non open facilities?. Until the authorities get their heads around the need for such this stinking and obnoxious issue will keep recurring . Maybe m's gunn should be appraised of that fact?.

As you aren't allowed to travel at the moment in Scotland this must relate to previous behaviour rather than current. In the England everyone knows the facilities are closed so if they decide to go somewhere they know what the score will be that doesn't excuse anything as it's their choice how far and long to go.

Have you written to her? The more people, possibly listing how much they have spent in the local community and how responsible they have been, who do the better.

It could happen yet. Would need contact details though?

People like her want it both ways, I would love to know how much money motorhomers spend in the local economies each year.

If you travel in a car you can leave shit, nappies and litter all over, if anybody ever puts a foot wrong in a motorhome it's a petition and letter to the paper.

See it up here on the moors, cars stop for a picnic and leave a mess behind, no problem. I have seen motorhomes wildcamp over the last 20 years and never leave a thing, after all motorhomes have toilets and bins.

It's about money and snotty nosed rich site owners complaining with letters like this.

It would serve them right if everyone never motorhomes in Scotland for a couple of years, see how much brass the sites lose then, their would be letters begging us back.

Anyone got an e mail? We are in full lockdown. Letters can be ignored but an e mail leaves a track

A photo of litter at Chatsworth posted on Fakebook - looks bad but if you look closer you can see at least one black rubbish bag - probably ripped open by a fox..................

Not every picture is all that it seems

It looks like a designated picnic area

Should not the bag have been collected?

Frances Gunn says they are looking forward to welcoming us back so please don’t say anything that might turn her against us. It might be fair to point out that our motorhomes come with toilet facilities and room to store rubbish, so perhaps the blame for the anti social behaviour lies elsewhere. I don’t doubt that some tourists leave a mess behind.

Should the rubbish not have been put in a bin, not just left in a bag, which anyone with a bit of thought for our countryside should know will be ripped open by wild animals and birds. That's why bins are provided.
If a bin can't be found then do as we do and take bag away and dispose of responsibly when possible, please.

Perhaps ‘they’ll’ only be happy if the NC500 is for locals only......?
Visions of pitchforks and flaming torches being wielded by the clansmen (and women!) driving the motorhome invaders away.........

We met a couple in an LMC motorhome and two dogs on an overnight site on the north coast of Wales,(£10 a night and a great beach, those in the know, know those that don't not telling!) and they admitted that they chucked their toilet waste over the nearest hedge and dumped the grey waste anywhere quiet, could not see a problem with it and refused to pay to use proper facilities spent the best part of an hour with a watering can and a slow tap at a public convenience filling up the drinking water. Yes I would be annoyed if I was a local or the farmer faced with their waste. Like everything in this life it only takes a few bad apples to spoil it for the rest, how about a *Wall of Shame* Take a photo of every Motorhome ruining it for the rest of use? No name no pack drill but photos of misdeeds and a reg number would go a long way to promoting the right image. Over to you Jim

You’re right it’s not all . If you go to some lay-bys and see the mess left. Some is trucks some are the mc Donald’s in car mob who just throws the remains out of the window. In truck stops where there are bins drivers still just throw it out of the window.

It was a picnic area - why provide tables and no bins?

The waste was not from one family

It's time that waste bins and toilets are serviced, same goes for laybys.

No public toilets and shops and pubs etc closed.......

Somebody at least tried

Are you going to pay for it ? As said if you can take it there you can take it away just as easily

Councils fault.Toilets are allowed to be open they just won't open them. Those that actually have any.
Interesting article.
Why not make the roads wider?

Same as laybys. Or anywhere councils are in cahrge of. Ask & they will tellyou "terrorism" & hide behind removing them due to the IRA.
