Hello All, We are very much looking forward to our trip in late July/August to the Black Forest and Bavaria. We'll be away for nearly 5 weeks and are considering travelling via Tunnel and through southern Belgium initially, before crossing the border and travelling South. We would love to have your recommendations of the best scenic routes and not-to-miss towns, villages etc. (and, potentially, where to avoid).

Lake Constance is nice, plenty of Stellenplatz, Wangen is interesting with a good stopover. Fussen too. We like that area very much in the summer, we normally stick to Stellenplatz and use Park4night to find them.

What interests you? Walking, history, cycling, food and drink...?
Walking, cycling, food and drink. Don’t mind a castle or two, but not into going inside them generally. Like to see old architecture. Love to do a bit (or a lot) of wine tasting and love to be beside water!

We toured through last August and September on our way to Slovenia and Croatia.

Fussen, Lake Konigssee, and Ramsau / the Bavarian Alps would be my highlights.

Highly recommend this vineyard camping then. We got to try his almond blossom gin. The whole place is a dream for cycling too, with lots of little roads among the vines.

Weingut Erlenwein
Ilbesheim bei Landau in der Pfalz

Notes
8 places. Top reviews.

Loved it. Very friendly owner speaks English.

About 1.5 kilometers before Leinsweiler is the Wacholderhof parking space of the Erlenwein winery. Pitch for 8 mobile homes on a meadow. Pitch also suitable for larger vehicles. Very quiet location in the middle of the vines. A toilet is available to visitors to the site, but there are no showers. Wine tasting is included in the price. Cassette toilet and gray water can be emptied. Fresh water is available free of charge. Electricity is also included in the parking space fee. Winter break from November.
