Looking at the sales and would like to buy a cordless vacuum that is stick mode for hard floor living area at home and hand held to use in the MH and car. Looked at the Dyson V7 which the other half liked but at a price, the Bosh Series 6 unlimited which we were not that impressed with and as I do not use Bosh power tools loses the advantage of shared batteries and chargers. The Shark has good reviews but is heavy. Then there are the multitude of Chinese (?) brands at much lower price but unknown quality. Any info/ suggestions and experiences appreciated. (I am not cost driven but like to try and find the sweet spot of price and quality!)

Thanks

We have had a black and decker for years now it was roughly £35 when we bought it 240 volt only but now there is 12volt version £53 at Costco .

WE have a Vax small lasts ages in the motorhome but if we had a choice would maybe go for the newer Sharks (or Vax) depending on costings

There was a thread on here recently ref a budget offering from Lidl. Got some good reviews from what i recall. Think they sold out pretty quick but maybe you could track one down.

I have a Dyson V6.... very powerful and easy to stow. Bought it cheap when on offer

Having the same problem, Girlfriend insisted we got a Dyson so bought a V8 in the black friday sale. Opened it and girlfriend said the top reminded her of of a spider so sold it the next morning to a mate. Didn't even get to try it out. :)

Looking at the GTech or Shark based on recommendations from friends so be interesting to see what the Funsters suggest

You cannot beat a Dyson for power but don’t know if the new ones are rechargeable from 12 volt. Mine wasn’t until we adapted a 12 volt charger from the old model. Had a suck off with a g tech. No contest.

I bought a dyson handheld off ebay, reconditioned by dyson with a years warranty, about half normal price.
Also bought the 12v charger from them.
Worth every penny.

We got one. Very good bit of kit.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I missed out on the Lidl stick cleaner - 3 year warrante. and enough cleaning power what was not to like! Sharks look good bit a quite a bit heavier. Dyson looking good at the moment but as I have mainly hard floors both at home and in the MH I will need the animal or absolute models as the standard floor attachment does not do so well on hard floors. As an extra "fluffy" head hard foor attachment is around £60 I am thinking of the V8 absolute (more tools and better battery than V7) which is available for £300....

Any other wise thoughts out there?

Yes the Dyson do have a 12v available. I’ve both 12 and 240v. cnat for the life of me remember where I got it from, poss amazon or eBay, about £20 so not too cheap.

Another vote for Dyson V6. Get the car and boat version and you will also get a 12V charger for it So you can recharge at any timer when you are in the motorhome. I got one for the motorhome. It was so good I bought a larger head and an extension tube and it is now used ion the house as well.

We've got a Vax. Order it direct and you get a bag of extra tools for it free. Far far better than the useless Dysons (floor and battery) we have at home, and a huge amount cheaper.

Dyson are doing the v8 absolute pro with all the hard floor tools for the same price as the Absolute. £299 thats the one we bought. On Dysons own site

Just bought the V8 absolute pro direct from Dyson for £299 and it come with all 3 motorised heads, hard floor, carpet and small head for furniture, car and MH.

We have a Vax cordless we bought for £100 about 6 months ago of eBay, reconditioned with 12 months warranty. The purchase was purely for van use.. its now also used almost daily in the house too, its a great little thing.

Gtech for us. Bought the handheld and the upright a while back. Work well for the van and home. I think they last well charge wise.

The gtech hand held works well in the mh. Have a 150w inverter to charge it. For the price (got given it) bloody marvelous. The reason for getting it not so good the motherin law had the up right one repaired twice (new drive shafts) before binning it and getting a hoover.

Gtech for us too. Powered sweeper attachment works well and battery charge seems to last. V pleased.

We recently bought one of these for use at home and in the MH - it is so good we got one for my Mum too who is VERY picky and she loves it!

Having had and seen countless Dyson heaps of doodoo die, we went GTech,, Now, over the past 5 years or so, have replaced ALL the hoover in the house and van with them
Had an issue with only one, and that was thanks to an MOT guy who thought it would be fun to see whats what in the van and turned the shower tap on.. As soon as I started the engine the pump came to life and filled up the shower tray ( because I did not hear the pump over the radio :-) ),, Where we kept the GTech !!!
But even that sprung back t9o life with a good dry out and replacement battery :-)

We've had a VAX cordless (less than 40 quid) for four years now, use it in the MH and at home. Does all you need and takes little space.

Just given a wet/dry version of that away as it was useless for dog hairs!

Based on Minxy Girl's opinion (on things technical which I highly respect) have just ordered one.
We bought the Lidl one for our home in France and are very pleased with it (albeit only had it a week before returning to York) but we have been unsuccessful locating any in a number of Lidls we looked in since returning. 'Which' magazine has a long list of 'don't buys' that don't include Minxy's model.
