I'm sure these are both great products and from all the comments on here, it sounds like VanBitz are a good outfit to deal with.

My one complaint is that the website and downloadable pdfs are a little confusing. In an effort to provide every necessary detail, they've just confused me.

Could someone please spare a moment to explain in very simple terms what is the relationship between Strikeback and Growler? It appears you don't have to buy both, but what does each do exactly? Strikeback seems to be the alarm system. Is Growler anything more than a loud siren?

in simple terms
Strikeback is a quality alarm system specifically designed for us motorhomeres.....
Growler is the dogs bits! of an alarm for us motorhomers.

growler is stikeback's big brother. it has a few more features and is louder!!!

A lot louder. :Eeek:
The “non starter” is highly recommended - there is a thread about a totally failed criminal attempt to bypass it on here somewhere

Hi if you would like to give us a call we can talk you through the differences, but in essence Strikeback is our motorhome alarm, and on say a Swift Kontiki would be

  • Tilt sensor fitted to the bonnet
  • Passenger and drivers doors protected
  • Caravan door protected
  • One external locker protected, Gas locker for example
  • Accessory Protection Circuit (Protection for bikes on a rack, A Framed car or trailer for example)
  • Internal LED warning light
  • External LED warning light (so people still know that the alarm is armed even when the blinds are closed)
  • Two anti scan anti grab radio keys
  • Easy activate sleep and pet mode
  • Battery Back up CODED siren
  • Override mode
  • International warning stickers
  • Warning decals for door locks
  • Internal detection system, Heating and Air Conditioning Compatible
  • Diagnostic mode
  • Self Check mode
  • Two year parts and labour warranty
£550 installed for paid up Funsters

Growler which is £900 for paid up funsters, is the same as above, with our most popular options "built in" more reflective of what we install on our own motorhomes and what we would do for our friends and family installations

The LED's are enhanced, both in number and intensity, so we use Daylight bright neon blue LED's and using the same van as an example, there would be one on the dash board, one mounted in the front bumper, one adjacent to the Caravan door and one at the rear of the motorhome.

Lots of tales about thieves jamming screwdrivers into locks, breaking the door lock, opening the door and running away when the alarm sounds, good that the thief has been thwarted, but if the thief ran when he triggered the alarm, he probably wouldn't have bothered if he knew that there was an alarm in the first place, thus saving the owner stress, potentially the loss of a couple of days holiday and a couple of hundred Euro's

Also if we think its a good deterrent, why only a deterrent at night? surely better to work in bright Sunlight? Then the trouble is that when your overnighting, say on a dockside waiting for a delayed Ferry, your security risk is much greater than a quiet little site down in Cornwall, where on a moonless night your high intensity daylight bright LED's can be bothersome, hence the Growlers LED dimming function so you, decided if you think a potential threat is high? or low?

Noise! if a thief isn't deterred by the multifaceted deterrent approach, LED's front back and side, decals by the locks, International warning stickers warning in five languages, the security loop around the bikes, with the other motorhomes parked adjacent appearing to have no protection, if someone is daft enough to trigger Growler, five sirens kick in! This isn't just a random number, for years Van Bitz have offered optional rear sirens and our "Devils Wail" option, which is a pair of internal sirens mounted either side of the dashboard, making the interior of the motorhome unpleasant, lets be honest its difficult to riffle through or vandalise your motorhome with your fingers in your ears. Most people do the same thing when they are adjacent to a motorhome when a Growler is triggered, they pull a face, put their hands over their ears and move away from the motorhome, which is exactly what we want a thief to do.

When you disarm the internal sensor so you can leave a pet in your motorhome or sleep in your motorhome, the internal sirens are automatically switched off as standard, but this can be optional

The warranty is parts and labour for the entire time that you, our customer own the motorhome

I hope that this explains the differences a little clearer for you

I think it means if you buy one eddievanbitz has steak for dinner or the other and he has a burger😂😂
Have you seen the price of Burgers nowadays?

No I am virtually part time nowadays, age and body catching up, Van Bitz is run by younger fitter people, whilst I hang around disreputable websites such as Motorhome Fun and online chess whilst "updating the Web sites for Van Bitz and Cornish Farm Touring Park ;)

Many thanks to the team for a great job and must say the site is spotless and site wardens are very friendly😁
Had mine done on Tuesday had strikeback, shadow, non starter done , and agree with Costal Cruiser the site is spotless ,thought for Eddie it might be a good idea to put a extra hook in the shower cubicle to hang your stuff on, otherwise another satisfied customer (y)(y)
