This arrived today from Brittany Ferries in their latest Newsletter.

"As you may have seen in recent media coverage, we’re looking seriously at the potential of a UK to Porto route,
to commence in June. A firm decision should be made imminently following discussions with port partners in the
UK and Portugal. Portsmouth or Plymouth will be the UK departure point offering twice weekly return sailings.
If it goes ahead this would be the first time in more than 40 years that Brittany Ferries has opened a route to a
new country and will offer travellers the opportunity to avoid airport hassles and sail direct to the first major
tourist destination to make it onto the UK government’s green list."

They made a similar announcement last week and quoted May 24 th, as a starting date..Looks like June now..They said they would use Pont Aven. Think Spain have beat them too it Other than Spain being on the Amber list not much of an advantage now. BUSBY.

Please present the Brittany Ferries link you purport to refer to. Yes there were references in 2 newspapers. Derek has copied today's newsletter from BF. Even this week, 17th when the CEO updated his frequent post on the Web site BF had refrained from mentioning it at all.

I had the same newsletter from BF today, ongoing negotiations, means just that, they never promised a start date.
Spain is still on the amber list, Portugal is on the green list.
Go to Spain, 10 days quarantine on return, go to Portugal no quarantine, matters a lot to people who are still working.

Rather the case of the gutter press predicting a decision this week and the football has no relevance to the launch of a new regular ferry service. Anyone who has run regular commercial services will know such events only create one way loads and empty sectors, they offer no relevance to long term planning.

The NI Ferry site posted this on the 11th May

It's in the BF Newsletter published today. I don't think anyone is saying this is the first announcement but their website has been silent on the subject.

This is a paste from the Newsletter:
