Stellplatz and sites in August

can anyone advise what campsites and stelplatz are like in August . Knowing how busy sites are in France , just A bit worried about travelling without reservations
 
It probably depends where you are going. We found them pretty full in October on the Mosel, which is a popular destination.

Which will probably be busier than October was my point. But I haven't been there in August so this is just a guess. I suggest being flexible, be prepared to go elsewhere if it's too busy. :)

Thanks for helping . we were in Mosel in September and it was busy so I’m quite worried about August but didn’t want to book ahead
 
Be ’reet. For the last couple of years we’ve had to go over the August bank holiday. We’ve always found somewhere to stop in Bavaria or Black Forest. Stopped on campsite next to Titisee last year. Was busy but spaces.
 
Last year we went up and down the Mosel over two weeks in August and there were spaces everywhere we went.
 
We were up and down the Mosel from May until September last year on the Mosel rolling meet. I will be starting a Mosel rolling meet thread towards spring as it was a great success last year. We never book anything and always get on even with the road train :).

With stellplatze it is more to do with time of day than time of year .
When its busy you need to have an alternate but moving early so you get to the one you want early seems to work .
