Hi everyone, having just read articles on the problems of excess load travelling from leisure battery systems and chargers by starting an engine either inadvertently or accidentally, wouldn't it be a good idea for the starter system to be disabled to prevent the vehicle being started while connected to the mains?

Seems like a good idea to me.
Lots of people never fully read instructions on a toaster, so it stands to reason that they'd skip over a book telling us how to operate a complicated thing like a motorhome.

:hi2:hellowelcome

Yes if its a real problem but of course if the sensor fails it won't then start!!!

Started ours a couple of times while plugged in. I can only imagine it's a problem if you've got chargers maintaining the starter battery that can deliver a high current.

Welcome! I wouldn't worry about it. :) As I understand it the problem is restricted to MHs with an EBL and then only if the starter battery is in poor condition. There are lots of other much more interesting things to fret about. :)

Hi and welcome. Started my van lots of times whilst still on hook up never been a problem. But then again I ignore reverse polarity!

But she is an older van/ engine,,, haven’t had any problems,,,,, so far!! X

My squeaks at me if I forget to disconnect. Never caused any problem though.

I have driven off whilst still hooked up...lots of new friends on sites enthusiastically waving me off as well :D

The big thing is to remember to disconnect before moving off
