I'm sure I have seen this somewhere but hey ho, let's go again.
We always stay on sites and use their loos. Showers are not an issue but doing No2s in our MoHo toilet is er, a subjest we might have to address if we are to get out and about this summer.

I'm not really worried about emptying the cassette, although it will be something I haven't done with floaters in there. Shut eyes, keep mouth closed and don't breathe for a few seconds!! o_O

But actually using the loo will be a first. Any tips to convert us from squeamish to unsqueamish?

I have read about polishing the bowl, using paper to line the bowl etc, but please help!!

We use a Loo Blue solution as washing tabs have never seemed to help with the pongs so we would like to stick (wish I hadn't used that word!) to Loo Blue if possible.

There. I asked:LOL:(y)

Just use the mhome loo like you would use your loo at home. Best to open the trap before parting with anything and flush as usual. Anything left in the bowl can be washed down with a small pressure spray. Close trap. We don't have any smells from our van loo and just use bio washing capsules, and usually empty when three quarters full or whenever we move.
Can't see any issues with that. (y)

Leave the flap shut and lay two 2-sheet lengths of loo roll in a cross fashion over the flap. Once finished, open the flap and the whole lot will slide right through, with very little / no mess in the bowl. You may get more immediate smells, but you won't get the smells from the tank itself, which I think tend to hang around longer.

Decent loo chemical will break down the solids and emptying is really not that bad, IMHO.

Yay a toilet thread (I'll say it before someone else does!)

I think Jim covered a lot of this, in a a lot of unpleasant detail, in the Fun magazine a couple of issues ago.

Realistically, open flap, a quick flush to wet the bowl can help (but any flushing fills your cassette), do your thing, flush and and close the flap.

As a larger bloke the greatest challenge is actually perching on the small seat in a tiny cubicle space. I use Aldi Formil bio sachets in the cassette, never had a smell issue (unlike the grey tank), but the Thetford charcoal filter thing probably discharges that towards the neighbour's van. I also keep a spray bottle of diluted pink flush thing. A quick application after use often leaves the space smelling almost palatable, and is supposed to help with bowl cleansing.

Yay a toilet thread
I expected that. Another toilet thread.

But, we have been caravaning and mohoming for 25+ years but always on sites. I have tried to help on here when others have asked questions and I can help - regardless of the topic and how often it comes up.
On this occassion I need to fill in a gap in our knowledge and explore a new aspect to our experiences. You might say I need to get to the bottom of this subject. I'm sorry to dump on you guys again. Please don't take the piss out of the question.

It's a sh*t job but everyone has to do it

We are trying dishwasher tablets in ours at the moment, NO we are not multi functioning the toilet, it was suggested to us by someone who has used them for years with no problems apparently.

You could get on of these

Interesting, as dishwasher tablets are generally more expensive than bio washing capsules, plus they shouldn't be emptied into a septic tank.

We all love a toilet thread but I really don't understand the problem. Why would you want to sit on a bog that has had hundreds of bums on it & probably been peed on when you have your own nice clean one.

Just open the flap and go, stupid lining it with paper and things unless you are going to wrap it up and put it in your waste bin, otherwise you will just fill up the loo quicker.
Also it always worth carrying a spare cassette no worries then if you can't empty.

Had SOG's in all our vans never use any chemicals.

Open flap, put in a Happy Bowl liner, do the business, flush to clean the bowl (but nowhere near as long as an ordinary toilet).

Use Bio clothes washing liquid, capsules or powder in the cassette, cheapest from Lidl or Aldi. Much better and cheaper than the blue or green toilet liquid. Keeps the cassette clean and smelling nice and breaks down the floaters in no time.

Edit, the liners are useful if you do not have a very good aim and go in off the bowl. If you are a good shot, like Lenny HB you won't need them, unless you have had a curry the night before

Or is that too much information ????

Unless you're unwell or had a dodgy meal then there really isn't any need for messing about with loo roll in the bowl. I find 'it' goes straight down, then a little practice of scrunching the paper together and flicking it down the hole so it doesn't touch the bowl and stick requiring excess flushing, quick flush and close it up quick, always keep the loo roof vent open obviously! I use aldi bio liquid and it only gets a little fragrant during hot weather.

We are in the line the bowl with toilet paper camp, no skid marks to clean, once flushed we have a spray bottle of the pink toilet flush and give the bowl a quick spray hygienic and it smells nice. 💩💩💩

Another one here for Happy Bowl liners (y) . I think I'm right in saying that bio tablets don't work if you are doing no1s only. They need something to work on. Blue or pink toilet fluids are also slightly more pleasant to see when you empty the cassette.

Once you’ve emptied one toilet cassette, you emptied them all. It’s like changing nappies or cleaning up people or mucking out kennels. You’ve shovelled one pile of sh**, you’ve shovelled them all.
Don‘t overthink it. No need for liners or extra paper to fill up the sewers. I put cheapest bio laundry powder in my cassette, no nasty smells at all. Just empty, rinse, return. Wash your hands and you’re done.

Some good advice on this thread

I have a mild perfume aversion so I use Elsan Organic which has no smell

Elsan Organic is a green liquid you can use in the top & bottom of the toilet - it works really well & seems to break down everything emptying disposal simple

I'm also a fan of Happy Bowls 🙂

Brilliant! Thanks

Do you use those with the flap open or closed?
Open or closed, they don't work as well as the crossed bog roll, and are quite expensive.

Recommend the BIO wash stuff, liquid or capsules, but works best if you can get rid of every trace of blue/green from the tank as residues seem to stop the bio working.

What happens if you have a septic tank at home and a dishwasher, as we do?

We tried the dishwasher tablets.

They are OK for cups but its a bugger to get them back out of that little hole, and plates are a no go! May as well use the sink - for the plates not the no. 2:LOL::sick:
