Hi 2008 Fiat Ducato x250
Does anyone know if the brake pad wear wear isindicated with a squeaking on the offending wheel or is it a warning light on dash

No wear indicator make a noise usually just bringing up a light normally red with a circle inside a circle, sometimes doubled up as a handbrake warning light on some vehicle, but if the pads are low they can make some, usually brake dust can also create some noise,
easiest is to read the owners operating book to see what your model has and what light should show,
Not all vehicles have wear indicators on there pads!

Have a look see how much pad material you have to make sure , more than likely its just down to pad movement , you have a couple of means of rectification , some pads have a malleable backing pad to secure the pad relative to the caliper to stop oscillation causing a squeak. others , you lubricate the rear pad face with a suitable grease , eg copper ease
with wear indicator squeal its usual to be random when not braking , and continuous when brake applied .

I wouldn't expect brake pads wear at such low mileage.
Depends on where/how it's been driven ... we change our pads before that due to lots of mountain/twisty road driving where you use the brakes more, if its been a while since they were done and we're going on a long trip with lots of this type of driving ahead we'll have them changed to make sure we can stop!

My van is a similar age but with higher mileage. Two years ago I had a local garage open up the brakes and change all pads. Whilst there was plenty of meat left on the pads the brakes looked awful. Well worth doing and a noticeable difference in braking. I shall do the same in a few years if we still have the van.

For a quick check on bearings .Jack up wheel try rocking the wheel top to bottom .movement is usually bearings ,sideways is track rod ends ,then again it could be just dust.

Could be a tyre, although that’s normally a chafing rub kind of noise.

A trapped stone makes a loud squeaking noise against the brake disk. Eventually it should fall out.
