We have 35 metres of hedge which is about 7 foot high and 4 foot thick on part of our boundary to one of our neighbours and this year again the sparrows have made good use of it for nesting and as a result we have what we call our sparrow gang who are eating us out of house and home at present with the amount of seed and peanuts their getting through. They bring us hour of entertainment with their antics.
The photo shows probably less that half of them with the rest perched on the bush just out of shot.

We seem to be invaded by Pigeons this year, driving the dogs mad as they walk around the garden, never seen so many...

We had loads of sparrows in the hedge of our last house in Kent but when we moved to Suffolk there were very few, despite being surrounded by fields.
One hedge further up the lane always had lots of chattering going on when we walked by, but ours was quiet.
Now, after several years, we have our own 'sparrow gang' again and this year they seem to have done even better.
Lots of chatter in the hedge now. They give us hours of amusement too.

Richard.

We have a gang of them arrive about 5.45 every day for their daily seed and a splash about in the bird bath I'll try and get a photo when they appear later.
We are lucky that we have a wide range of birds that come to the garden including a sparrow hawk who visits now and again.

We have them too , in the back hedge. (belongs to the neighbour)
He wants to thin and shorten the hedge, to make it manageable for him. He wants to thin it to 1foot wide (now 4 feet) and shorten to 4 feet (now 6 ft)
It wont worry us because our section is 1.8mtrs below, his hedge is on top of a Cornish stone hedge
