3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Not sure I quite get the logic behind Spain's new rules. So you are still welcome if you have proof of double vax but not with a PCR test.

Given you can still transmit the virus and can get ill although you have been double/triple jabbed surely a PCR test is just as safe (if not more so) for Spain?

It's OK - I am triple jabbed so not got an axe to grind but I just find it odd. If the aim is to protect the Spanish health care system PCR out to be more acceptable than vaccines.

OK - the PCR is just a snapshot in time I get that and that's the only argument I can see for this action.

You also can no longer come if you are unvaccinated but have had covid.

It is because they wish to reduce the likelihood of infected people arriving over the christmas period. The rules are from today until the 31st december. Which is when the large influx of returning nationals + xmas tourists would start to come. & especially returning unvaccinated nationals , from the UK, which was the problem last year.
You also have to take in to account why would anyone now be unvaccinated ??
At yesterdays vaccine booster session + a "walk in" there were around 9 unvaccinated ,of all ages , to every 1 person having the 3rd jab? Why ?
Why were there also so many old people in the unvaccinated queue?
All I can guess is, as from today without signs of vaccine + certificate you really aren't allowed in anywhere. You are persona nongrata.

It appears to me that Spain is trying to avoid a repeat of last year...with a large portion of the population now double and even triple jabbed us included) they are trying to defend the country by means they seam fit...I fully support what they are trying to do...it might not suit all, it might be different but if it protects it's citizens and residents I'm OK with that...

We get our third jab on the 9th of Dec so it should be working and be on the new improved NHS app by the time we ship out.

hi guys . we just go where we want to spend our money in France/Spain having worked 39 years each . we was in the same position last year & look what happened to that . val

For info - Also looks as if travellers from outside the EU will need a negative Covid 19 test to enter France also

Another argument is that most people ending up in hospital haven't been vaccinated so why should Spain let the unvaccinated in to clog up their hospitals?

It would appear that the EU (Brussels) is trying to align all the Schengen countries into a single arrangement. A bit like herding cats but it would help if we just had to pass on hurdle on entry rather than a different one at each potential border.

Had ours on 29/11 and it’s not displaying on the NHS App yet. I asked them the question via the App and was immediately replied with ‘allow 5-7 days’

Not yet confirmed on French Gov website

No, all countries are doing their own thing, that they feel is the right thing for them.

Totally agree, isn't that the message I was trying to get across last winter, when the Spanish Hospitals were at breaking point and motorhomers were ignoring the guidelines and insisting on coming to Iberia, because that what they do every winter....(y)

Our booster was yesterday & updated on app last night around 7pm & digital covid EU certificate up to date & showing all jabs & able to be printed off if required.(y)

I'm sure i read last night that spain are now up to 95% of icu beds are being blocked by un vaccinated people . it was 83% before.

So much for harmony within the EU.
There has always been a clear distinction between the authority of the EU supranational body that marshals the harmonised agreements and the powers of Member States to decide their national interests. The different approaches emerging from France and Spain reflect the different infection levels and the respective Governments views/assessments on what is likely to be the most efficacious travel health protection measure to implement. There is no 'harmony within the EU' issue in this respect. It is a matter for national government competence

perfectly within the rules. If something offers the 'citizen' greater benefits or security then it takes precedence over the EU rule.

Don't think it is which offers the greater benefit; the issues are split between EU Agreements/Treaties/Policies etc; and Policies and Regulations that remain within the national competence of the Member State's Government. A recurring example for the UK that still turns up on Forums is the 'EU Tells UK to increase State Pension' accompanied by a donkey's year old map showing the State Pension amounts across Europe. EU had no role/authority to make any such Order, because the power for this policy rested with UK Government, even before 1st January this year.

And the UK pension is one of the (if not the) lowest in Europe 🤔.

But what this has to do with the Covid rulesin Spain, I don't know.

I used it only as an example of the difference between an EU matter and a matter for the individual Member State's national competence, not least because the State Pension graphic and 'the lowest in Europe' poster is one that most people will have seen. Best to steer clear of the topic, not least because no other European country rolls Pension, Health and Unemployment cover under one [prima facie] tax. It has been paid from UK general taxation since about 1973, so is funded by many different taxes

As you may have read gus-lopez . We were refused entry to Spain and returned on the same aircraft last year, 31st December. Despite having paid £330 for tow PCR tests that were negative. My beliefs to this day were a Brexit Spat. Macron and Merkel on the dog and bone to Sanchez waving the cheque book. Record 10 mins in Alicante airport and threatened with a £100 fine each on return to the UK for not filling out the PLF. Well, we had no Wifi !

Spanish Nationals and Residents were allowed in and their PCR's were not even checked by Spanish Police

We are flying over tomorrow on business. We have decided not to socialise. as we are only in spain a week.

On the 31st December we fly to Spain (still considering driving via Ferry to Santander). Staying longer and hoping we can still be allowed to leave and allowed in.
